ART & COMMUNITY

[edit]

Our goal at ART & COMMUNITY is to add new articles for artists, activists, and organizers with a sustained involvement in cultural production, community building, and intersectional dialogs to Wikipedia.

ART & COMMUNITY edit-athons are organized by artist Jaret Vadera in collaboration with community organizations or are embedded within a university course or artist residency. The goal it to encourage deeper and ongoing discussions about online meritocracies, structural inequities, bias, and radical archiving. Although, Art & Community edit-a-thons are far from comprehensive, the hope is that they bring us one step closer toward a more diverse and representative archive.

History

[edit]

ART & COMMUNITY is part of an ongoing series of edit-a-thons originally developed by Uzma Rizvi and Jaret Vadera aimed at adding diverse practitioners and communities to the wikipedia archive.
