Anant Yashwant Khare, also known as, Nanda Khare (1946-) is a novelist in the Marathi language [3]. His original (and translated) writings cluster around a variety of historical, anthropological and scientific themes. Some of his prominent novels are ‘antajichi bakhar (अंताजीची बखर)’, ‘bakhar antakalachi (बखर अंतकाळाची)’ and ‘udya (उद्या)’. He is known for his consistent advocacy of a rationalist wordlview grounded in the modern sciences.

Educational and Professional Career

Khare completed his primary and secondary education in Nagpur. After passing his matriculation examination in 1961, he studied Civil Engineering in the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. After obtaining his B.Tech. (Honours), he was employed in various capacities in a private engineering firm (Khare and Tarkunde) until 2001. He was one of the chief engineers in the construction of the Ujni dam on the Bhima river.
