The Black Lion (Georgian: შავი ლომი) is a professional Georgian rugby union team based in Tbilisi that competes annually in the Rugby Europe Super Cup's Eastern Conference competition with Enisei-STM, Lokomotiv Penza and Tel-Aviv Heat. It is the first professional Franchise/Club from Georgia.

Name

The name "black lion" is connected to famous Georgian painter's, Niko Pirosmani's painting. Second connection of the name comes from Georgian Rugby Union's anthem, "Freedom is lion's destiny".
