Confounding Factor was a British video game developer based in Bristol, England. The company was established in 1997 by Toby Gard and Paul Douglas, both former Core Design employees, although Douglas would leave the company in early 2000 over disagreements concerning the schedule, scope and content of the videogame they were developing.[1][2][3] Almost immediately after its founding, Confounding Factor was signed to a multi-game deal with Interplay Entertainment.[4] The studio developed only a single title during its lifetime, Galleon,[5] which was released in 2004 for the Microsoft Xbox console.[6] They disbanded soon after,[7] with Gard taking up a position with UK video game publisher Eidos.[8]
