He was not born in 1243 as stated at the top of the page but in 1743. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.100.41.153 (talk) 21:22, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

The opening paragraph incorrectly states that Lavoisier was a "French nobleman" whereas his family were members of the upwardly mobile French bourgeoisie (or "middle class"). Removing the "French nobleman" part of the statement would be best as it doesn't have any relevance or truth to it, and his family's socio-economic status is best left to the Biography section. 2604:3D08:117D:C900:40FA:9622:E143:36B4 (talk) 22:09, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- Not done. The "Early life and education" also say that Lavoisier is from nobility. I also don't see any mention of the bourgeoisie anywhere. Please provide reliable sources to back up your claims. ◢ Ganbaruby! (Say hi!) 01:01, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
Wife
The entire article has significant problems, one of which is the virtual absence of any mention of his wife's contribution to his work. She not only contributed in his laboratory, but also translated his writings, and some very important (English) sources without which he would have struggled to "keep abreast of current developments in chemistry."(quoted from her Wikipedia article). She's not even mentioned in the "bio box". It is, of course, an open question of what he could have done without her, but the facts are she was integral to his productivity.174.130.49.98 (talk) 21:27, 26 February 2021 (UTC)
- I added her to the infobox, but I don't know enough about this aspect of his work to write about it. Could you propose a paragraph or other specific sentences, and where in the article to insert them? If you write the actual content here, someone can easily copy it over into the page. Insalubrious arts / airs ?
The article contains the statement 'One such project he proposed in 1793 was to better public health on the "insalubrious arts".' (link) The statement is incomprehensible, and it should probably be deleted. Possibly "arts" is a typo, it should be "air". Lavoisier studied respiration and the composition of air, and he sometimes used the terms salubrious air for oxygen, and insalubrious air for carbon dioxide and nitrogen.
