Astoria Grande (formerly AIDA AIDAcara[1]) is a cruise ship formerly built to the fleet of German cruise company, AIDA Cruises. She was the first cruise ship in the fleet of AIDA Cruises. In 2021, she was sold to an undisclosed buyer[2] and renamed Astoria Grande.
History
AIDAcara was built for Deutsche Seetouristik/Arkona Reisen as a Clubschiff (Club Ship),[3] and was launched in 1996 under the name AIDA. When P&O Cruises purchased a controlling stake in Arkona Reisen in 1999, they transferred the ship, and it became part of the new AIDA Cruises fleet, and was named AIDAcara, after two of its sister ships entered operation, AIDAvita and AIDAaura.[1]
In 2005, the vessel underwent a refit, which increased the number of cabins.
