Steve Irwin Day is an annual event on November 15, honouring the life and legacy of Australian conservationist and television personality Steve Irwin, who was killed by stingray in 2006.[1] The date was chosen because it takes place on the birthday of one of Irwin's favourite animals, a tortoise from the Galápagos Islands.[2]
Events that take place include people raising money for Wildlife Warriors to help continue Irwin's conservation work,[3][4][5] and employees at Australia Zoo wearing khaki uniforms in Irwin's memory.[6][5][7][8]
