WikiProject Redirect

Per your contributions WikiProject Redirect, please consider commenting at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Talk:List of Carl Squared episodes. I couldn't find the policy/guideline regarding talk pages of redirect pages e.g. when the talk page itself is maintained, when the talk page itself also is redirected, whether there is a speedy delete for such a talk page. Thanks in advance for your insight. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 10:17, 13 November 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Andaman Islands, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Phuket (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Verified Image of Victor White, O.P. with Carl G. Jung.

I have confirmation that the image I have is indeed that of Father Victor White with C. G. Jung taken approx. 1957, at Bollingen. It is confirmed by the historian of The Dominican Order in the UK. Also, confirmed in Clodagh Weldon's Book: " Fr Victor White, OP, The Story of Jung's "White Raven"" University of Scranton Press 2007. How do I get it in the Commons and/or in the page?? I wish to place it on the page Victor White~ I believe it is now out of any copyright restrictions. MacOfJesus (talk) 21:08, 27 November 2012 (UTC) MacOfJesus (talk) 11:36, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Help Project newsletter : Issue 5

The Help Project Newsletter
Issue V - January 2013
Project news summary
From the editor

Hello again from the Help Project!

In the last newsletter (which was quite a while ago sorry!) I talked about my fellowship and the plans for improving the main portal page, Help:Contents. Well I'm sad to say that my fellowship is now over, but very happy to say that the proposed improvements to that page have been completed and implemented. Do check it out if you haven't already.

Another important and frequently used help page, Wikipedia:Contact us, has also seen a significant revamp. You may recognise the design inspiration from the new tutorial pages.

In project news, we now have a subscription to the "article alerts" service. Any deletion nominations, move discussions, or requests for comments on pages within the Help Project's scope will now show up at Wikipedia:Help Project/Article alerts. So that's definitely a page which project members might want to watch.

Any comments or suggestions for future issues are welcome at Wikipedia:Help Project/Newsletter. If you don't wish to receive this newsletter on your talk page in future then just edit the participants page and add "no newsletter" next to your name.

Help me

{{adminhelp}}

I need an administrator for help. Please advise. Thanks! Please see the following page: Deaths in 2011. Also, please see the following two Talk Page sections: Talk:Deaths in 2011#Stupidity and Talk:Deaths in 2011#Images. Also, please see the edits / reverts of the following user: B-Machine (talk · contribs). Can some administrator intervene, as this user is ignoring consensus and engaging in edit wars? I am not sure, administratively, how such matters are handled. Please advise. Thanks! (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 17:46, 2 May 2011 (UTC))

The Administer to help, as I found him very helpful is: User:OlEnglish. Find his talk page and at the end leave a message. Leave this whole message at the end of his talk page. I know he will not mind. MacOfJesus (talk) 18:33, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

citation needed on article page; privatio boni

In the article page I added the source that was requested for /needed. It is the clearest earliest source of this use of metaphor.... However, the page needs to be restructured as, as it is, it shows leniency in one direction only....MacOfJesus (talk) 20:18, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Also, the article makes "heavy-work" of a simple concept, that is pre-Christian in principal.... In the page it is referred to as Christian..... now compare how we treated the same concept in the article page Victor White .MacOfJesus (talk) 20:35, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Your counsel sought

OlEnglish, long time no see! When you return from break (or if you happen to sneak a peek) I'd like your take on adminship. I might become an admin, but I need more info. So I would be interested to know what your admin experience has been like. Have you ever felt so bogged down with it that you couldn't spend the time you like on article edits? Anything you can tell me will help, and thank you so much for your advice! – Paine (Climax!22:38, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Well no, I've never felt that way, because I never treat this like a job. It's always been about fun to me, this is supposed to be an enjoyable hobby. -- œ 18:56, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for that perspective, OE. I sometimes forget that this is far more than just a "job". You're right in that we have to choose to do the "treating" and not let the editing make us feel that we don't ultimately have the power to keep it "fun". It's all in the POV. And I'll definitely keep that in mind. – Paine (Climax!01:01, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

April - National Contribution Month

Good day OlEnglish,

During the month of April, Wikimedia Canada is preparing the National Contribution Month, and we are looking for experienced contributors to organize a contribution day (or half-day) in their region.

Contribution days are activities where Wikipedia's contributors, students, or anybody interested in contributing to Wikipedia meets together to collectively improve a predetermined theme. This meetings generally take place in library where references are easy of access, but can be organized in any communal room. Beside improving articles, a goal of this participatory workshops is to initiate neophyte in the cooperative contribution of Wikipedia.

If you are interested in organizing or participating in a contribution day in your region, communicate witht he national team on the project's talk page. The exact agenda of each local event is left to the discretion of the organizer. Help is available for the organization from contributors who already organized these type of days, so don't be worried. If you have any questions or want more information, don't hesitate to contact us.

You're tip has been scheduled!

Your green redirect tip has been posted. It will appear as the Tip of the Day on March 2nd. The TOTD appears at the bottom of the Community Portal, and on scores of user pages.

The tip on spelling checking had become obsolete, and so your tip has now replaced it.

Questions about adding "Garnet Capital Advisors" article

Hi,

I am trying to figure out the best way to go about having an organization, in this case Garnet Capital Advisors (which is mentioned in other Wikipedia articles such as "Loan Sale", "Mission Capital Advisors", etc. I feel as though it would be a great addition to Wikipedia and would like some advice as to best go about it because it seems as though doing it myself might create conflict of interest issues. Any advice/direction would be greatly appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Garnetcap2013 (talkcontribs) 21:02, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Open Help Conference

The Open Help Conference will be taking place June 15-19 in Cincinnati Ohio, USA. The conference includes two days of presentations and open discussions, followed by team "sprints" - collaborative efforts to write and improve documentation.

It has been suggested to send a team from Wikipedia/Wikimedia: to share our own knowledge about help, learn from others in the open source community working on similar problems, and to carry out a sprint to improve some aspect of Wikipedia's help.

There may be support available for volunteers to attend from the Participation Support program (and your editor is certainly hoping to be there!) Please join the discussion in Meta's IdeaLab if you're interested, and/or have suggestions about what we could work on.

If you don't wish to receive this newsletter on your talk page in future then just edit the participants page and add "no newsletter" next to your name.

Reconnecting on Kinder Surprise

OlEnglish,

As you may recall, I reached out to you in early 2012 to address incorrect information on the Kinder Surprise Wikipedia article.

As you indicated on your Talk Page that you wouldn’t be online as frequently, I recently sent you an email to request additional perspective to help ensure the article remains 100% factually correct from a neutral point of view.

Please let me know if you are available to reconnect about this.

Thanks, Jeanne
