Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Tim Gruber, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Maura McGiveney, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Tea House, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! ...William 15:30, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Maura McGiveney requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://articles.latimes.com/1990-11-17/news/mn-4310_1_maura-mcgiveney. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ...William 15:30, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Maura McGiveney may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • &fn=maura&ln=mcgiveney&st=g| title=Turn On Cast Is a Turn Off| publisher=[[The Daily Times News (Burlinton, NC]]| date=July 6, 1969| accessdate=2013-11-18}}</ref>

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Carl Ballantine, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 04:17, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Edson Stroll. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 04:20, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Larry Hovis. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Binksternet (talk) 04:22, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your last warning. The next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Jack Benny, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Binksternet (talk) 04:26, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppetry

[edit]

Please do not violate Wikipedia's rules about WP:Sockpuppetry by using two accounts, this one named Tim Gruber and the anonymous IP 64.121.102.98 which geolocates to Allentown, to appear as if there is more than one person editing or arguing a point on the same article. Violation of this policy may result in the blocking of both accounts. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 18:11, 10 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
