Emma Zia D'Arcy (born 27 June 1992) is an English actress known for work in film, television, and theater, appearing in television productions such as Truth Seekers and Wanderlust. D'Arcy is set to play Rhaenyra Targaryen in the HBO television series House of the Dragon, which is a prequel spinoff from Game of Thrones.
Early life
D'Arcy attended the Ruskin School of Art, an art school at the University of Oxford, studying Fine Art. D'Arcy appeared in several theater productions, including Romeo and Juliet, The Games We Played, and The Crucible at The Yard Theatre,[1] and in theater productions of Against at the Almeida Theatre, A Girl in School Uniform (Walks into a Bar) at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Mrs. Dalloway and Callisto: A Queer Epic at the Arcola Theatre, and Pillowman at the Oxford Playhouse.[1]
Career
In addition to appearing in theater, D'Arcy has also appeared in several television productions, including Truth Seekers, a comedy horror series starring Nick Frost for Amazon Prime Video in 2020.[1][2] They have also appeared in Nick Payne's BBC One and Netflix co-produced series Wanderlust, which debuted in 2018, as well as the second season of the Amazon Prime Video series Hanna.[1][2][3] D’Arcy also appeared in the 2020 comedy-drama film Mishbehavior directed by Philippa Lowthorpe.[4]
It has been announced that D'Arcy will appear in the upcoming HBO series House of the Dragon, a spin-off of Game of Thrones, as Rhaenyra Targaryen.[3][5] The series began production in April 2021, and will debut its first season in 2022 which will consist of ten episodes.[6][7]
