When was it announced that the GL2 was being discontinued? While the new HD models from Canon are similar in appearance to the GL2, they are not intended as replacements.

Merge proposal

I wasnt' aware that there were two articles on this camera, I've been working on the Canon GL-2 stub. I'll definitely lend a hand in the merge effort, but where is the destination title? This article Canon GL2 or the other? -Fadookie Talk 23:58, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

specifics of name

This is my first time using a talk page so forgive me if I'm not using it properly. I agree the merge should happen. It appears that Canon does not use the hyphen in the name, as used on [[1]]. Therefore, I think the destination title should be the "Canon GL2".

The comment "A high definition update to the GL-2 has been announced by Canon, it will be called the Canon XH G1." is a bit misleading.

Since the XH-G1 and the XH-A1 are both HD 3CCD prosumer camcorders that don't maintain the GL lineage, I think calling either an "update" is inaccurate. Particularly since the GL2 will continue to be sold. When merging, I suggest maybe making some comparisons to the GL-cousins XL1s or XL2 but trying to avoid calling something an update or upgrade unless it actually replaces something in the product line.

If the photo is in the public domain it will be an excellent addition. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Indie Film (talkcontribs) 03:36, 1 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]
