American Underdog is an upcoming American biographical sports drama film directed by Andrew and Jon Erwin. Produced by the Kingdom Story Company, it tells the story of NFL quarterback Kurt Warner on how he went from a grocery store worker to a Super Bowl-winning quarterback.[1] It stars Zachary Levi, Anna Paquin, and Dennis Quaid.
The film is scheduled to be released on December 25, 2021, by Lionsgate.
Premise
American Underdog chronicles the true story of Kurt Warner, who went from stocking shelves at a supermarket to become a two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP, and Hall of Fame quarterback.[2][3]

Production
The film was announced in February 2020, when Andrew and Jon Erwin were hired to direct the film.[5] In September 2020, it was announced Zachary Levi would star as Warner.[6][7] In January 2021, Anna Paquin and Dennis Quaid were among the additional cast added to the film.[8][9]
Filming began on January 25, 2021, and concluded on March 6. Shooting occurred in Atlanta and Oklahoma City.[10]
Release
It is scheduled to be released on December 25, 2021.[11] It was previously scheduled to be released on December 18, 2020,[12] but was delayed to a previous December 10, 2021 date, due to the delayed filming schedule during the COVID-19 pandemic.[13][14][15]
