Request to re-write an article

Hello. I have a request. Years ago when I was still pretty new to the website I created an article: Freeman family murders. I was unaware of Copyright violation issues at the time because I was still young and new to the site, as such, a lot of the work I put into the page was deleted because of copy vio. The article as it stands now is a mess and a stub yet the case is pretty well known and receives lots of views to this day based on a page view analysis.

I would like to rewrite the entire article, but rather than doing it from scratch, I was hoping I could view the version how it was prior to being removed for copyright violations? Because I am not an admin I cannot preview the article how it used to look and was wondering if you could and send me a copy or permit me access?

The version I am hoping to gain access to is this: [(cur | prev) 11:35, 5 April 2017‎ Inexpiable talk contribs‎ 15,420 bytes 0‎ →‎External links]. It's the version I edited just before this edit based on the page history of the article: [1]

Is it possible you can access that version, copy the entire thing and add it to my sandbox, or as a draft, so I can begin working on rewriting the entire thing? I don't really want to do it from scratch, but now I know much more about Wiki I can rewrite it so it does not break copyright violation issues. Please let me know if this is possible because the article does get a lot of views and I think the case warrants a well written article. Thanks. Inexpiable (talk) 09:57, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello, I have placed a copy of the article in your userspace at User talk:Inexpiable/Freeman family murders, I have also disabled the categories, so it does not get listed. Keith D (talk) 12:28, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Thank you. I've expanded the article. I've checked it with Earwig's Copyvio detector, now at only 7.4%. How do you think it looks now: Freeman family murders? Would you be able to check if it's ok for me with any copyvio stuff or is it all good? Thanks. If you want you can delete this User talk:Inexpiable/Freeman family murders as it's no longer needed. Inexpiable (talk) 16:41, 22 August 2021 (UTC)
Hello, looks OK at a glance, cannot help with checking for copyvio as it appears to be low on the tools for detecting this. Those who spotted this last time will probably watching the article so should pop along and check it is fine. Keith D (talk) 11:44, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

Sock puppets

Hello friend and thank you for helping me out with my old article. Another user has notified me about a person I suspected of being a sock puppet back in January. It seems likely the users he suspects for having a COI in a current article up for Afd are all the same person. Based on the edit history and the style of wording used in each edit description, as well as the timing of the edits, and the inactive edit history on each account, I suspect all five accounts he has named over at COI are likely the same person with an agenda. At least three of them edited the article within a 4 minute window on August 22nd. I was wondering if you would be able to take a look and investigate or get someone to check into these accounts in question? The users names can be found here listed by autopatroller Hemiauchenia: Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#Physicians_for_Patient_Protection Thank you. Inexpiable (talk) 18:27, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Sorry I was unaware you were on vacation. I've taken it to another admin and it's being investigated so don't worry. Cheers. Inexpiable (talk) 20:19, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I see that you undid a revision I made a couple of years ago (yes, infrequent user) to Michelle Dewberry's page (added her DOB info) because I cited The Sun as the source, yet now the page shows the same info without citing any references...

AlexAndrews (talk) 16:00, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

I have commented out the birthdate information as needs a source. Keith D (talk) 11:18, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

non-breaking spaces in times

MOS:TIME explicitly allows for times to be formatted without a space e.g. 3:00pm but to use a non-breaking space when it is written 3:00 pm. Nthep (talk) 15:01, 17 September 2021 (UTC)

Invisible character

Thanks for cleaning up behind me. I'm genuinely curious what your edit did: if I'm creating trouble by copying dates rather than entering them manually, I'd rather not keep doing so...Vanamonde (Talk) 21:44, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello, the article appeared in the hidden category category:CS1 errors: dates, I removed a character from the end of the date field, probably from a paste of the date. If you put the cursor at the end of the date and delete a character you will see that the cursor does not move, indicating that there was an invisible character there. It is always best to check after pasting dates to see if there is a problem. Keith D (talk) 21:54, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

Happy First Edit Day!

A classic Yorkshire-oriented page! please check I had real trouble today. Thanks again. T.

Newsletter WikiProject Worcestershire

Worcestershire - one of England's oldest and still existing (with some minor boundary changes) ceremonial and political shires, famous for its nearly 1000 year old cathedral, the River Severn, the AONB of the Malvern Hills, some of the oldest schools in the country, England's fastest growing university, apples, pears, cider and cricket, and of course its world famous sauce. The Wikiproject is now in need of some attention. Created 12 years ago, this project amassed a huge resource for editors working on all kinds of articles and categories related in some way or another to the county. Kudpung is more or less retired from Wikipedia getting on for 2 years ago and it would be good if a group of editors could get it up to date and continue to maintain it.

Sorry sorry. sorry - new reference - number 104 - which might be wrongly done. Thanks for checking it out. That will be all for a while. Thanks again so much T.

edit, reply to this when youre done so i can submit the article for review. EpicWikiLad (talk) 17:39, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
@EpicWikiLad: Hello, I have gone through and cleared up the cite problems and some formatting things. I can align dates to day first or month first format but unsure which one in more appropriate for the article. There are some bare URL references that need looking at before submitting. Hope that this helps. Keith D (talk) 18:42, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

Proposed new draft for the Jon Baker page

Hi Keith D. Hope this finds you well? I asked a couple editors to review the draft I proposed here with a disclosed COI on the Jon Baker (producer) page, but they didn’t have an interest in the topic. I dug through the edit-history of the page to find anyone with a potential interest and found you. I was hoping you might have a minute to take a look? I'd really appreciate it. Look forward to hearing from you. Daizypeach (talk) 09:08, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

@Daizypeach: Hello, I have had a quick look and on the surface do not find any obvious problems. I only made a minor edit to fix a problem on the article and do not know anything about the subject. May be you need to advertise it as there are only a few people watching the page, you could try an edit request to draw the attention of those who look after them, though the extent of the change may put people off. Keith D (talk) 13:14, 30 September 2021 (UTC)
Hi Keith D. Thank you for your feedback! Would you be willing to review if I do one section at-a-time? Or however you prefer I break it up? Daizypeach (talk) 11:47, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
Probably have to pass on that one as I indicated I have no knowledge of the subject and trying to review is not good in that situation. Sorry. Keith D (talk) 12:08, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

ANI case

When you have a chance, could you look into an ANI case that I filed a few days ago? I was unable to get any responses from other editors, so I'm a bit frustrated by that. I've received help from other admins in the past about this situation, but it hasn't gotten the solution that I've been looking for. So, I'm hoping I could get your opinion on this. Yowashi (talk) 04:47, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Uh, not sure if you got the notification the first time, so I'll try this again. Yowashi (talk) 11:23, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
I have restored to the main ANI page from archives as will not get seen in the archives. I cannot think of a solution to the problem of IP hopping as you indicate that the range block is not effective. If it is on specific page then the page protection can be used. It looks like 2603:8000:401:9930:0:0:0:0/64 has been reblocked for 2 weeks by the same person doing the initial block. Keith D (talk) 12:06, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
Would it be possible for a /48 range block to be issued, or would that not be recommended? IP 2603:8000:401:0:0:0:0:0/48 was blocked as a /64 but due to the editor being able to IP hop, the addresses were always different. I'm able to see all the edits that they've made from the 401 address. Yowashi (talk) 15:38, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
I have blocked for using multiple accounts. Keith D (talk) 20:40, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
The editor has returned under 172.119.121.249. I believe 2603:8000:401:0:0:0:0:0/48's block will expire in a few hours from now. Yowashi (talk) 20:56, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

Arbitration

  • A motion has standardised the 500/30 (extended confirmed) restrictions placed by the Arbitration Committee. The standardised restriction is now listed in the Arbitration Committee's procedures.
  • Following the closure of the Iranian politics case, standard discretionary sanctions are authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed.
  • The Arbitration Committee encourages uninvolved administrators to use the discretionary sanctions procedure in topic areas where it is authorised to facilitate consensus in RfCs. This includes, but is not limited to, enforcing sectioned comments, word/diff limits and moratoriums on a particular topic from being brought in an RfC for up to a year.

Miscellaneous

  • Editors have approved expanding the trial of Growth Features from 2% of new accounts to 25%, and the share of newcomers getting mentorship from 2% to 5%. Experienced editors are invited to add themselves to the mentor list.
  • The community consultation phase of the 2021 CheckUser and Oversight appointments process is open for editors to provide comments and ask questions to candidates.

thoughts on removing the COI?

curious on your thoughts to remove the COI on this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Stem_Advocacy_Institute Editas18 (talk) 16:01, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, the talk page could be tagged with {{Connected contributor}} to alert people that the specific editor has a COI on the article. Though I am concerned that all the editors appear to be only interested in this particular article or a list article related to the same topic, maybe there is further COI editing here. I would leave the tag until it is transferred to main space and the editor who deals with it should be looking out for such before moving and remove the tag appropriately.
