Discussion on hidden screenshots in {{Infobox website}}

A discussion on hiding non-free works in infoboxes such as {{Infobox website}} is taking place at Template talk:Infobox website. You're welcome to share your thoughts on the matter! – PhilipTerryGraham (talk · articles · reviews) 13:14, 30 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hell, CAT:NN now has a backlog of almost 12 years. If anyone can help, please do so. There are usually around 300 articles in there that are web-related: [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Web_articles_with_topics_of_unclear_notability] and we are desperate for knowledgeable and interested people to look them over. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 14:50, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look through a bunch today / later this week. ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 12:34, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that would be great. Boleyn (talk) 15:01, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please make full use of Template:Decrease for websites' Alexa rank

Greetings!

Alas I don't have time to personally join your worthy project, but I still wanted to give you a small heads-up since it seems within the scope of your project:

Template:Decrease, which produces these nice red & green arrow-thingys indicating a rank change (Increase & Decrease), actually also has options for negative increase Negative increase {{IncreaseNegative}} and positive decrease Positive decrease {{DecreasePositive}}.

These should be used whenever there is a ranking in which - like e.g. in sports - 1st place is best, and higher numbers worse.

This is used as intended in a number of Wikipedia articles, but notably not in the vast majority of websites which have an Alexa rank. But Alexa ranks are like that - the lower, the better!

So to avoid confusion for the reader, I strongly suggest to henceforth use the proper pointing arrow on all Alexa rankings (and also on all other applicable rankings).

I tried to update a few articles to use this by hand, but I could not find a way to correct all instances automatically. If there is one, I'd love to know how to use it. --LordPeterII (talk) 18:35, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Userbox

Hi,

I recently joined WikiProject Websites and i was wondering if the project had a userbox to place on a user's profile to show they are a member of the project. If so, could someone please link the userbox below? Thanks!

FAR

I have nominated The Million Dollar Homepage for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 05:06, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How to declare a site dead

Eventful appears to be dead. Currently, the URL is a redirect to another site owned by Entercom, the parent company. I didn't find any general-purpose wiki-editor-howto pages that address how to handle the death of a (notable) webpage. Eventful seems to be in a middle zone of notability: notable enough to get some third-party coverage in the past, but not notable enough that people (especially reliable sources like the press) notice its demise immediately. Combine that with a corporate owner who I'm sure would like to downplay its failure. The only third party source I found is in a mailing list hosted on google groups (maybe accessible at https://groups.google.com/group/eventful-api-developers) -- recent mailing list poster David is an Eventful employee posting from an eventful.com email address. How is something like this to be handled? I have a reasonably long history of Wikipedia micro-edits (fix a link, remove small vandalisms, etc), but not much experience in significant content updates such as this.

Yahoo! News, which is within the scope of this WikiProject, has an RFC for possible consensus. A discussion is taking place. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments on the discussion page. Thank you. Aceing_Winter_Snows_Harsh_Cold (talk) 03:35, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
