Derek Anthony Klena (born October 3, 1991)[1][2] is an American actor and singer. He originated the role of Eddie Birdlace in the stage adaptation of Dogfight,[3] and played Fiyero Tiggular in the 10th anniversary company of Wicked on Broadway.[4] In 2016, he originated the role of Dmitry in Anastasia on Broadway. In 2020, Klena was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Nick Healy in Jagged Little Pill, a role which he originated at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2018.[5][6] He has made appearances on several television series such as Law & Order: SVU, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Blue Bloods.
Personal life
Klena was born in San Dimas, California, where he began performing locally at the age of six.[citation needed] He attended South Hills High School. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles where he played baseball. He resides in New York City, where he continues to perform on Broadway.[citation needed]
Klena married long-time girlfriend Elycia Scriven on the coast in Gualala, California in 2018.[7][8]
