Critical reception

Metal Injection gave Moss an 8.5/10, writing that it "epitomizes why Kayo Dot remains a laudable one-of-a-kind project"; singling out track "The Necklace" in particular, describing it as "surreally gothic, with an utterly mesmerizing blend of syncopation and electric guitar arpeggios" and "one of the band's greatest musical moments of the past decade".[2] Everything is Noise highly praised the album, claiming it to be "definitely one of the best Kayo Dot records" and "a thoroughly amazing album" wherein "the reward is proportional with your investment in this record".[3]
