Jimi is the first song from the Butthole Surfers' fourth album "Hairway to Steven".

Background

Jimi was recorded in January Sound Studio in Dallas, Texas in 1988.
A demo of Jimi was released on the Butthole Surfer's compilation album 2002 Humpty Dumpty LSD.

Music

Jimi is 12:38, featuring distorted, pitch-shifting vocals, distorted bass and guitar, and drums described as being similar to We Will Rock You.

Cartoon Song

Halfway through the song, Jimi transitions to a different style, which is referred to as Cartoon Song, sounding more like a laidback country/psychedelic style, also making use of various animal sounds; such as an dog barking, or a rooster. Cartoon Song was often preformed live without the rest of Jimi.
