If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Jeromeenriquez/sandbox/Ivan Pereira requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://en.radiovaticana.va/news/2014/12/03/fr_ivan_pereira_new_bishop_of_jammu-srinagar/1113450. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Cannibals A Rock Band From Manipur

Cannibals band was formed in 1986 by Paul (Singer) with the line-up of Momocha on drums, Ritchie on Lead Guitar, Jimmy on Guitar and Mathew on Bass. The Band hails from Imphal, Manipur, India. Cannibals shot to fame instantly outclassing other bands in almost all the major competition of India, they became one of the most prominent rock in the country during the 80's. The band was at the summit of its career and toured all over India. Some of the achievement of the band was winning the North East Zone Musical competition, Dimapur, All India Western Music competition held at Shri Ram College, New Delhi and Music competition of St Xavier's etc. However, the glory days of Cannibals came to an end in 1992.

Cannibals also had two originals like the "Sweet Reggae" and "Dirty Boy Blues". see this, this and this Jerome E John 10:59, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Control copyright icon Hello Jeromeenriquez, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Burn Hall School have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Meters (talk) 03:44, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on List of Christian Schools in India requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

The article St. Mary's Church, Gulmarg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails GNG, no significant coverage found after a Google search.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Carmel Gospel Missions

Hello Jeromeenriquez,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Carmel Gospel Missions for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Hello, Jeromeenriquez,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether St. Mary Joseph's High School, Hyderabad should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/St. Mary Joseph's High School, Hyderabad .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Hippolytus Anthony Kunnunkal a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). AfC notification: Draft:Hippolytus Anthony Kunnunkal has a new comment

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Hippolytus Anthony Kunnunkal. Thanks! ―Biochemistry🙴 06:30, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Hippolytus Anthony Kunnunkal a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Hippolytus Anthony Kunnunkal.

This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. ―Biochemistry🙴 06:31, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jeromeenriquez. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Japfü Christian College, Nagaland, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

A tag has been placed on James Thoppil requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://directory.ucanews.com/bishops/bishop-thoppil/88. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Control copyright icon Hello Jeromeenriquez, and welcome to Wikipedia.

Thank you. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:22, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Hippolytus Anthony Kunnunkal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Hi, I'm reaching out to you because I see you've had some recent A7 taggings on South Asian Christian (mainly Catholic) topics. As I've expressed to you before, I appreciate people who are trying to expand the coverage of Catholicism in particular and Christianity in general in South Asia, because it is a significant historical and societal topic and it is one that we are lacking coverage of. A few pieces of advice:

  1. Bishops are almost always notable, but very few new page patrollers are familiar with a random diocese in India or Pakistan. You need to make it clear why we should have the bishop in the encyclopedia. The easiest way to do this is to show coverage in reliable sources when you create the article rather than waiting for me or one of the other people who can scrounge up sources on clerics comes around to save the day. Google Books is your friend here.
  2. Religious congregations are not always notable, and sometimes might not be significant. Bishops most admins will think twice about deleting via speedy deletion, but groupings of consecrated religious probably won't because they are organizations. If they are notable, demonstrate it through adding sources to independent coverage, either in newspapers, non-blog websites, or Books (again, Google Books is your friend).
  3. You've been doing much better on this from what I can tell, but saying it again just for emphasis: write everything in your own words. I will nominate a bishop for speedy deletion if it is 97% copied, and I'm one of the few people on new page patrol who knows enough about clerics to try to get them into shape as an article.

I hope this is helpful. If you have any questions, you are always free to reach out to me. TonyBallioni (talk) 18:10, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Shalom Bible Seminary, Kohima

Hi, I'm Nick Moyes. Jeromeenriquez, thanks for creating Shalom Bible Seminary, Kohima!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Wikipedia is not a directory, and this article is too short to be of use to anyone. Which country is it in - you may know where Nagaland is, but others won't? What is a seminary? It needs a wikilink to help explain. What does this educational establishment offer? Normally, college articles are far too wordy - this one is far too short, I feel

Improving the quality of your work

Hi. I'm reaching out to you to encourage you to help make Wikipedia a really great encyclopedia. You'll see I have been page patrolling a number of incredibly short articles you have been producing recently. Your enthusiasm is to be welcomed, but so is quality of content. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who does not live in India as you do, and doesn't know what the subject is about. It's your responsibility to help them understand, and to do it in a way that follows the layout and style of all the other articles here. I can see you've been working hard to improve this (after a rather shaky start), but I'd like to suggest a few things you need to consider doing:

  • SLOW DOWN! It's not a race to create the largest number of articles. Quality is more important than quantity. Focus on quality, please!
  • Embolden the title in the first sentence of the article - you seem to forget to do this sometimes. It would help if you would go back and check all the articles you have created for this omission, please.
  • Put references after the stated facts - not after the name of the article, just three or four words in.
  • Add at least one or two categories to every article.
  • Do not use capital letters for words like 'ordination' or 'bishop'. Save them only for use with real titles and organisation names. Saying that someone was made a bishop is fine; saying they were made a Bishop is not. See John Barwa or Sarat Chandra Nayak.
  • If it's a secondary school, say so clearly in the article. People like me, with no strong interest in the subject, won't then have to waste their time trying to decide whether to put one of your quite poor stubs forward for speedy deletion as non-notable. If it's a secondary school, it is inherently notable. So please just help us by saying so clearly! See Little Flower School, Imphal and St. Joseph's School, Imphalla (which both also need wikilinks and country, too, please.)
  • Say more! I think you now know that it's not OK to copy and paste words from other websites. But that should not stop you putting important information about the subject in your own words. Many of your new articles are little more than a couple of sentences - rather like a directory, when they could be so much better. Tell us what age groups these colleges take; use wikilinks to words like seminary or bishop to help others understand what they are (e.g.Nicholas of Lesvos; tell us what country these people or places are in, and use wikilinks with them. (see Sarat Chandra Nayak Surprisingly, most other articles on unknown schools and colleges are far too wordy, and go into inordinate amounts of trivial detail. Yours are the opposite! Make them just a bit longer to give the reader enough basic information about them.
  • Do not use Wikipedia as a reference. It is not regarded as a 'reliable source'. Put links to Wikipedia either as a wikilink, or create a 'See Also' section which you can list them in. e.g. Cettin
  • Don't leave it to others to clean up after you. Take the time to understand the importance of Wikipedia's Manual of Style so you get the content and the layout right first time, and don't leave a mess behind for others to sort out.

Please take this in the positive and supportive way that was intended. I'm copying this message to @TonyBallioni: as I can tell that they are also keen to see you improve your work here so it's something you can be really proud of. Regards from the UK, Nick Moyes (talk) 11:57, 20 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You do not appear willing to correct your previous incorrect edits, and in this edit at 17.23, nearly an hour after our earlier posts, you move the flag, rather than deleting it.
Furthermore, you keep adding links to disambiguation pages, such as Indian, which will also need to be revisited and corrected.

Edit summaries

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Ladislao Bukowinski

Hi - you may not have noticed that the page you have recently created, Ladislao Bukowinski, already exists since December 2015 as Wladyslaw Bukowinski. You may want to incorporate the information from your page into that article and I, in the meantime, have already placed a template requesting a merger with the article already in existence. The article Aleixo das Neves Dias has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. reddogsix (talk) 23:39, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Hindi as the official language of India has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Mostly duplicates Languages of India and Hindi. Would need heavy copy-edit if kept because a rough quality translation.

Speedy deletion nomination of Anthony Alwyn Fernandes Barreto

Hello Jeromeenriquez,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Anthony Alwyn Fernandes Barreto for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Anthony Alwyn Fernandes Barreto requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://directory.ucanews.com/bishops/bishop-fernandes-barreto/197.

Close paraphrasing

Hi Jeromeenriquez, Tony has been kindly going through some of your recent contributions, and several of them had clear cases of close paraphrasing. This is a common mistake: Even if you cite the sources correctly, you still have to summarize the source content in your own words, or add quotation marks if you are incorporating a phrase. Failing to do so runs the risk of copyright violations. Regards, Alex ShihTalk 03:35, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jeromeenriquez, prose you find online is almost always copyright, and cannot be copied here; it's against the law to do so. All prose must be written in your own words. There's more information about copyrights and how it applies to Wikipedia at Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. Copyright law and its application are complex matters, and you should not edit any more until you have taken the time to read and understand our copyright policy. Further copyright violations will result in you being blocked from editing. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 07:01, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

CCI Notice

Hello, Jeromeenriquez. This message is being sent to inform you that a request for a contributor copyright investigation has been filed at Contributor copyright investigations concerning your contributions to Wikipedia in relation to Wikipedia's copyrights policy. The listing can be found here. For some suggestions on responding, please see Responding to a CCI case. Thank you. I'm sorry I've had to file this, but as Diannaa has explained above, this is a policy with legal implications and unfortunately I've stumbled across enough copyright violations last night and today where I think we need to look through your contributions more systemically to see if the text is free. This is not undervaluing the positive work that you do, but unfortunately Wikipedia cannot allow copyright violations on its website, so when the issue becomes a pattern, we have to look into it. Request reason:

I do agree that i have been warned in past about copyright, but can't you notice that i haven't repeated the same. I am still working on the article that you have picked up and blocked me without any notice. I really don't understand one thing about all of us at Wikipedia, we are always in a hurry to point out mistakes in other's works rather than waiting for sometime and letting the other person finish his or her piece of work. We are all trying to contribute in the best possible way to make Wikipedia a beautiful, simple and complete platform of knowledge for the world but pointing out issues in each others contribution that too without waiting for the them to complete it, is very irritating and disheartening act. I am really sorry to say but if we continue like this people will keep turning away from contributing on Wikipedia. I have been contributing on Wikipedia from past one year but haven't received any word of appreciation, have only received warnings, errors, notifications and today i have finally been blocked because of a reason that i was still working on the article and had pasted few lines from some other source but was intending to change them into my own words. The copyright policy was advised to me by User:TonyBallioni and i did read it.

Decline reason:

You can not place copyrighted material that has not been released under a CC-BY-SA 3.0 licence (or freer) here on Wikipedia, not for one revision or even for one second. The moment you hit Save when there is even one example of copyright violation in your text, you are breaking Wikipedia's copyright policy and you are breaking the law. You will not be unblocked until you understand that and give a believable commitment to adhering to it. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 22:10, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • Jeromeenriquez, I alerted Diannaa to this situation, and I am very sad that it had to come to a block, but I wanted an uninvolved administrator to make the call since you and I have a good relationship (it is also the reason I will not be unblocking, someone who is uninvolved needs to judge). The issue here, as I have tried to explain before is that Wikipedia certifies that every revision on its site can be reused under the terms of the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license. We simply cannot have any text that has been copied wholesale on this website at any time.
As I mentioned, I consider myself somewhat WP:INVOLVED, with you, so I will not be taking any administrative action in regards to blocking or unblocking, but what I suggest you do to let another administrator review is the following: promise to completely write the prose of your articles off Wikipedia before creating them. Your problem seems to be that you use the sources and then try to work towards removing the copyright violations. Doing this in a text file rather than on Wikipedia is the best way to do this. Also, I thought I had told you before, but if I haven't, I do appreciate all the good content you write for Wikipedia. I just want to make sure it follows the law and our terms of use. Much of it does, but you currently have too many articles that don't. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:58, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Jeromeenriquez (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Thank you everyone for explaining and guiding me. I did read the copyright policy once again today and i agree and understand that i have violated the policy and i promise not to do so again. As TonyBallioni mentioned, i do use the material from other websites and change them on the interface in my own words. I promise i will write the articles in my own words and will make all the changes before i save it. I will also edit all my existing articles that may contain any material that violates copyright policy. Kindly give me a chance to add some more topics to Wikipedia. Thank You all once again for support.

Accept reason:

I am unblocking your account, because you clearly now understand the strict expectations of our copyright policy, and will follow that policy in the future. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:24, 28 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In 2017 – 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India Chapter (WMIN) and user groups from India, are piloting a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program will (a) support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and (b) sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

Phase (a) has been completed, during which active contributors were awarded laptops and internet stipends. Phase (b) will be a contest in which editors will come together and develop a writing contest focused on content gaps. Each month three individual prizes will be awarded to each community based on their contribution for the month. The prizes worth 3,000 INR, 2000 INR, and 1,000 INR, will be awarded to the top contributors for each month. The contest started at March 1, 2018, 0:00, and will end at May 31, 2018, 23:59 (IST). Project News
By Lionelt

Last month's auspicious relaunch of our newsletter precipitated something of an uproar in the Wikipedia community. What started as a localized edit war over censorship spilled over onto the Administrator's Noticeboard finally ending up at Wikipedia's supreme judicial body ArbCom. Their ruling resulted in the admonishment of administrator Future Perfect at Sunrise for his involvement in the dispute. The story was reported by Wikipedia's venerable flagship newspaper The Signpost.

The question of whether to delete all portals--including the 27 Christianity-related portals--was put to the Wikipedia community. Approximately 400 editors have participated in the protracted discussion. Going by !votes, Oppose deletion has a distinct majority. The original Christianity Portal was created on November 5, 2005 by Brisvegas and the following year he successfully nominated the portal for Featured Portal. The Transhumanist has revived WikiProject Portals with hopes of revitalizing Wikipedia's system of 1,515 portals.

The reconstructed frame of Nate Saint's plane used in Operation Auca

Operation Auca was an attempt by five Evangelical Christian missionaries from the United States to make contact with the Huaorani people of the rainforest of Ecuador. The Huaorani, also known as the Aucas, were an isolated tribe known for their violence, both against their own people and outsiders who entered their territory. With the intention of being the first Protestants to evangelize the Huaorani, the missionaries began making regular flights over Huaorani settlements in September 1955, dropping gifts. After several months of exchanging gifts, on January 2, 1956, the missionaries established a camp at "Palm Beach", a sandbar along the Curaray River, a few miles from Huaorani settlements. Their efforts culminated on January 8, 1956, when all five—Jim Elliot, Nate Saint, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, and Roger Youderian—were attacked and speared by a group of Huaorani warriors. The news of their deaths was broadcast around the world, and Life magazine covered the event with a photo essay. The deaths of the men galvanized the missionary effort in the United States, sparking an outpouring of funding for evangelization efforts around the world. Their work is still frequently remembered in evangelical publications, and in 2006, was the subject of the film production End of the Spear. (more...)

The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara, painting by Moritz Daniel Oppenheim, 1862. This depiction departs significantly from the historical record of how Mortara was taken—no clergy were present, for example.
The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara

The Mortara case was a controversy precipitated by the Papal States' seizure of Edgardo Mortara, a six-year-old Jewish child, from his family in Bologna, Italy, in 1858. The city's inquisitor, Father Pier Feletti, heard from a servant that she had administered emergency baptism to the boy when he fell sick as an infant, and the Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Roman and Universal Inquisition held that this made the child irrevocably a Catholic. Because the Papal States had forbidden the raising of Christians by members of other faiths, it was ordered that he be taken from his family and brought up by the Church. After visits from the child's father, international protests mounted, but Pope Pius IX would not be moved. The boy grew up as a Catholic with the Pope as a substitute father, trained for the priesthood in Rome until 1870, and was ordained in France three years later. In 1870 the Kingdom of Italy captured Rome during the unification of Italy, ending the pontifical state; opposition across Italy, Europe and the United States over Mortara's treatment may have contributed to its downfall. The Top 7 report
By Lionelt

The big news was the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The Top 7 most popular articles in WikiProject Christianity were:

    1. Elizabeth I of England – legendary monarch who ushered in the Elizabethan Era over the dead body of her half-sister (#5)
    2. Henry VIII of England – on his deathbed the last words of the king who founded the English Reformation were "Monks! Monks! Monks!"
    3. Martin Luther King Jr. – can't wait to see the new US$5 bill featuring the "I Have a Dream" speech
    4. Seven deadly sins – surprisingly "original research" is not one of the Seven deadly sins
    5. Mary, Queen of Scots – arrested for Reigning While Catholic (RWC)
    6. Michael Curry (bishop) – our article says that he upstaged Meghan at her wedding. Did you see her wedding pictures? All I can say is {{dubious}}
    7. Robert F. Kennedy – when informed that missiles were being installed in Cuba he famously quipped, "Can they hit Oxford, Mississippi?"

List of dates predicted for apocalyptic events. Predictions of apocalyptic events that would result in the extinction of humanity, a collapse of civilization, or the destruction of the planet have been made since at least the beginning of the Christian Era. Most predictions are related to Abrahamic religions, often standing for or similar to the eschatological events described in their scriptures. Christian predictions typically refer to events like the Rapture, Great Tribulation, Last Judgment, and the Second Coming of Christ.

Polls conducted in 2012 across 20 countries found over 14% of people believe the world will end in their lifetime, with percentages raging from 6% of people in France to 22% in the US and Turkey. In the UK in 2015, the general public believed the likeliest cause would be nuclear war, while experts thought it would be artificial intelligence. Between one and three percent of people from both countries thought the apocalypse would be caused by zombies or alien invasion. (more...)

Peer review newsletter #1

Introduction

Hello to all! I do not intend to write a regular peer review newsletter but there does occasionally come a time when those interested in contributing to peer review should be contacted, and now is one. I've mailed this out to everyone on the peer review volunteers list, and some editors that have contributed to past discussions. Apologies if I've left you off or contacted you and you didn't want it. Next time there is a newsletter / mass message it will be opt in (here), I'll talk about this below - but first:

  • THANK YOU! I want to thank you for your contributions and for volunteering on the list to help out at peer review. Thank you!
  • Peer review is useful! It's good to have an active peer review process. This is often the way that we help new or developing editors understand our ways, and improve the quality of their editing - so it fills an important and necessary gap between the teahouse (kindly introduction to our Wikiways) and GA and FA reviews (specific standards uphelp according to a set of quality criteria). And we should try and improve this process where possible (automate, simplify) so it can be used and maintained easily.

Updates

It can get quite lonely tinkering with peer review...
With a bit of effort we can renovate the place to look like this!

Update #1: the peer review volunteers list is changing

The list is here in case you've forgotten: WP:PRV. Kadane has kindly offered to create a bot that will ping editors on the volunteers list with unanswered reviews in their chosen subject areas every so often. You can choose the time interval by changing the "contact" parameter. Options are "never", "monthly", "quarterly", "halfyearly", and "annually". For example:

  • {{PRV|JohnSmith|History of engineering|contact=monthly}} - if placed in the "History" section, JohnSmith will receive an automatic update every month about unanswered peer reviews relating to history.
  • {{PRV|JaneSmith|Mesopotamian geography, Norwegian fjords|contact=annually}} - if placed in the "Geography" section, JaneSmith will receive an automatic update every yearly about unanswered peer reviews in the geography area.

We can at this stage only use the broad peer review section titles to guide what reviews you'd like, but that's better than nothing! You can also set an interest in multiple separate subject areas that will be updated at different times.

Update #2: a (lean) WikiProject Peer review

I don't think we need a WikiProject with a giant bureaucracy nor all sorts of whiz-bang features. However over the last few years I've found there are times when it would have been useful to have a list of editors that would like to contribute to discussions about the peer review process (e.g. instructions, layout, automation, simplification etc.). Also, it can get kind of lonely on the talk page as I am (correct me if I'm wrong) the only regular contributor, with most editors moving on after 6 - 12 months.

So, I've decided to create "WikiProject Peer review". If you'd like to contribute to the WikiProject, or make yourself available for future newsletters or contact, please add yourself to the list of members.

Update #3: advertising

We plan to do some advertising of peer review, to let editors know about it and how to volunteer to help, at a couple of different venues (Signpost, Village pump, Teahouse etc.) - but have been waiting until we get this bot + WikiProject set up so we have a way to help interested editors make more enduring contributions. So consider yourself forewarned!

And... that's it!

I wish you all well on your Wikivoyages, Tom (LT) (talk) 00:31, 11 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created via translation, Sylvain Fort, has far too many translation errors to remain in article space. The publications lists contain large swaths of bare ISBNs, the infobox needs to be unsubstituted and turned back into an infobox, dates in references need to be translated to English, stray HTML error messages removed, etc. In future, please take care to bring your article closer to completion before adding it to article space. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 17:13, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Angelo Acerbi. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! Formal names versus common names in infoboxes

Jerome!

I notice that you've recently replaced the common names used in some infoboxes with formal names, as you did at F. Scott Fitzgerald. While I understand the instinct, the documentation for that template specifically states "Use the common name, typically name of article." I'm undoing some of these changes; could you check for any more you may have done? --Nat Gertler (talk) 12:53, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the nice note... although in the future, you may want to place such notes not on a User page like User:NatGertler, but on their talk page, like User talk:NatGertler. The User page is mainly for the user to write about themselves. --Nat Gertler (talk) 14:06, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral, Cork, Ireland

Saint Fin Barre's Cathedral is a Gothic Revival three-spire cathedral in the city of Cork, Ireland. It belongs to the Church of Ireland and was completed in 1879. The cathedral is located on the south side of the River Lee, on ground that has been a place of worship since the 7th century, and is dedicated to Finbarr of Cork, patron saint of the city. It was once in the Diocese of Cork; it is now one of the three cathedrals in the Church of Ireland Diocese of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, in the ecclesiastical province of Dublin. Christian use of the site dates back to a 7th-century AD monastery, which according to legend was founded by Finbarr of Cork. The entrances contain the figures of over a dozen biblical figures, capped by a tympanum showing a Resurrection scene. (more...)

A tag has been placed on Shyamal Bose (bishop) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2019-05/pope-francis-india-baruipur-appointment-coadjutor-bishop-bose.html.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:Dominic Lumon.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Dominic Lumon.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 19:28, 14 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Eric and Leslie Ludy were 21 and 16 respectively when they first met, English professors suggest that older singles are unlikely to gather hope from their story.

When God Writes Your Love Story: The Ultimate Approach to Guy/Girl Relationships is a 1999 book by Eric and Leslie Ludy, an American married couple. After becoming a bestseller on the Christian book market, the book was republished in 2004 and then revised and expanded in 2009. It tells the story of the authors' first meeting, courtship, and marriage. The authors advise single people not to be physically or emotionally intimate with others, but to wait for the spouse that God has planned for them.

The book is divided into five sections and sixteen chapters. Each chapter is written from the perspective of one of the two authors; nine are by Eric, while Leslie wrote seven, as well as the introduction. The Ludys argue that one's love life should be both guided by and subordinate to one's relationship with God. Leslie writes that God offers new beginnings to formerly unchaste or sexually abused individuals. (more...)

Сретение Господне ("The Meeting of the Lord"), a depiction of Simeon recognising Jesus at the Temple, from a fifteenth-century Novgorodskye School Russian icon.

A Song for Simeon, is a 37-line poem written in 1928 by American-English poet T. S. Eliot (1888–1965). It is one of five poems that Eliot contributed to the Ariel poems series of 38 pamphlets by several authors published by Faber and Gwyer. "A Song for Simeon" was the sixteenth in the series and included an illustration by avant garde artist Edward McKnight Kauffer. The poem's narrative echoes the text of the Nunc dimittis, a liturgical prayer for Compline from the Gospel passage. Eliot introduces literary allusions to earlier writers Lancelot Andrewes, Dante Alighieri and St. John of the Cross. Critics have debated whether Eliot's depiction of Simeon is a negative portrayal of a Jewish figure and evidence of anti-Semitism on Eliot's part. (more...)

Quotes
"Faith lived in the incognito is one which is located outside the criticism coming from society, from politics, from history, for the very reason that it has itself the vocation to be a source of criticism. It is faith (lived in the incognito) which triggers the issues for the others, which causes everything seemingly established to be placed in doubt, which drives a wedge into the world of false assurances."
~ Jacques Ellul
French philosopher, sociologist, and professor who was a noted Christian anarchist.

Hey friend, I hope the page which I created is OK. I'm a researcher who specialises on early Indian migration to the UK and the Indian Independence Movement. If there are any questions about what I've written, please do let me know :). Using the sources cited, I'd also like to create pages on the other men who are of historical significance within the IWA/India League.

Depiction by Raphael of Aristotle in the School of Athens receiving some useful feedback during an active peer review

Hello to all! This is the second Wikipedia Peer Review newsletter, containing some updates relating to peer review since the initial newsletter in August 2018. I intend these as infrequent newsletters that can be used to interact with interested editors and also let people know about relevant changes.

Thanks again to everyone who has been responding and helping out at peer review, it's great to see the venue so active.

I value feedback, and if you think I've missed something, want to include something in the next newsletter, wish to receive these, or don't wish to receive this again, please leave a note on my talk page, or add / remove your name from the mailing list.

Yours, --Tom (LT) (talk) 23:22, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What's new?

New closure script

There's a new script you can use to automate the process of closing a review. Now, for most reviews you just need to click a button (hurray!)

Developed by User:WritKeeper, to whom we are all very thankful, there is a script to help automate closing peer reviews. To use the script:

  • Copy importScript('User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/peerReviewCloser.js'); into your Special:MyPage/common.js
  • When you view a review, click on the tab that says "More" and then "Close peer review". The tab can be found near the "History" tab

I've added it to the list of tools here: Wikipedia:Peer_review/Tools#Closure_script

Volunteers list contacts

Editors can now choose to be contacted periodically by User:KadaneBot with unanswered peer reviews in specific topic areas. If you'd like to be contacted, please visit the volunteers page and update your preferences

Peer reviews on "Article alerts"

If you're a member of a WikiProject, you may have noticed peer reviews getting included in the article alerts lists, which is sure to enhance our subject-specific visibility.

How can I contribute?

  1. Answer some reviews! A list of unanswered reviews is here: (WP:PRWAITING)
  2. Add yourself to the volunteers list, and receive regular updates about unanswered reviews here: (WP:PRV)
  3. Or, if you only want one request a blue moon, Click "watch" on the list of items that somehow missed getting added to the unanswered list (here). Sometimes, these reviews linger for months!!

This has been transcluded to the talk pages of all active WikiProject Peer Review users. To opt-out, leave a message on the talkpage of Tom (LT) or remove your name from the mailing list

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Maria Raffaella Cimatti, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Blessed. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

I made significant changes to this draft to address WP:NPOV issues since the last decline. What more specifically would need to happen here to meet your acceptance criteria? ~Kvng (talk) 17:32, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear, you are much more experienced then me with Wikipedia, the article doesn’t look like an article, it looks like the events calendar. It’s only the events have been listed and nothing else. You are well experienced, so you are the better person to make it better. Please put this article right and resubmit. Thanks. Jeromeenriquez (talk) 21:14, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure you are familiar enough AfC acceptance criteria to be reviewing articles? ~Kvng (talk) 14:36, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear ~Kvng i am reviewing that means i am familiar enough. Jeromeenriquez (talk) 19:15, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Drafts often don't start out looking like other Wikipedia articles. The way they get there is though improvement by the community. The question AfD reviewers should be asking themselves is whether an accepted draft would be likely deleted (rather than improved) by the community. If you are unsure how to answer this question, please spend some time participating at WP:AFD to learn how this decision is made.
In that light, after your decline, I have resubmitted Draft:Gregg Hotel and accepted it. ~Kvng (talk) 14:09, 7 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kvng you accepted your own article, no one else accepted it. i am not here to argue with you or waste my time talking to you. please carry on your good work. regards. Jeromeenriquez (talk) 03:24, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Jeromeenriquez

Thank you for reviewing Draft:Anindya Bakrie. I edited the page few weeks ago and try improve the page by removing VIVA sources (a media company owned by this guy) and none notable family members. Do you have any specific comments on how what I can do to improve it further? In terms of notability I think he has a wide coverage nationally also internationally from WEF, Forbes, Reuters etc. I think it has something to do with the awful copy, but i'd like to know you have specific comments for this, thanks. --Adsfreethanos (talk) 04:58, 26 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear adsfreethanos, I see that you have worked hard on this article but it would be great if you can keep the article simple and to the point. First point, Your article is a biography but it looks like an advertisement. Second point, most of the references added are in the local language, some references talk about the bakrie group not the individual subject. Please add relevant links, references and clean the article to look like a biography. Show the real coverage about this person in media. Do this and resubmit. Jeromeenriquez (talk)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Anna Wang, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wei County.

Need advice regarding Draft:Shivani_Khetan Rejection

Hi, I just checked that you've marked the Draft:Shivani_Khetan as rejected can you please help me out with the draft as all the sources are authenticated and she has enough presence in Google. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sneha-SIPL (talkcontribs) 05:46, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sneha-SIPL i reviewed the article once again and checked all the references. All the references has her interview. The content and the references are different. Please understand that only people included on the Wikipedia are those who has achieved something notable. I tried to find some more sources to find about the subject but couldn't find it. Subject is a doctor and a tarot card reader. She started a start up, which isn't notable even. I am proposing it for deletion. You can ask other editors for their opinion. Thanks. Jeromeenriquez (talk)

Sneha-SIPL (talk) 12:31, 26 May 2021 (UTC) Hi, I understand that but she has won awards as mentioned below:[reply]

  1. Awarded Golden Book of World Records for Tarot a healing tool in modern times, as first coffee table book on tarot.
  2. Global Goodwill Ambassador (GGA) program from LinkedIn Company for volunteering program
  3. Peace 2019 International Awards

Kindly help with the article. As she is having notable awards list also please check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitin_Soni how it can be published then I also can find any notable work over there according to your perception.

Dear Sneha-SIPL, i understand your point but please look at the box on top of the article that you are referring to with an exclamation mark. Your article is in for discussion, so let the authorized editors review it and bring it to the main space if it qualifies. i don't want to bring it to the main space because i don't want it to be deleted after few days by some other editor because it doesn't meet notability guidelines for Wikipedia. Notice

The article Fr. Agnel School, Noida has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sources establishing notability of the school. GNG is not met.

Participation in a research study of Wikipedians

Hi Jeromeenriquez,

My name is Lara Yang, and I am a PhD student in Organizational Behavior at Stanford University. As a part of a research study to better understand work dynamics on Wikipedia, our research team is currently conducting interviews with Wikipedians. Because you are an active editor on Wikipedia, we would love to learn more about your work and hear your perspective on how Wikipedia, and open-source communities in general, function to produce and organize high-quality knowledge. We have done our best to learn about the dynamics of collaboration on Wikipedia from secondary sources, which we are hoping to complement with your invaluable first-hand insights.

The interview will take around 45 minutes and be semi-structured in format. Any identifying information in your responses will be kept strictly confidential, and will not be disclosed in the analysis nor the research paper. If you are interested in participating, please email us via the 'Email this user' tool on my user page and suggest a few time slots in the upcoming weeks that work best for you. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

Best, Lara aka Wanderingpotato (talk) 18:15, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lara, it’s a great opportunity, I would like to be part of it. Please tell me the time slots available and I will keep myself free for this interview. Thanks. Jeromeenriquez (talk) 09:41, 21 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jeromeenriquez,

Awesome! Thank you for your interest. We are quite flexible in terms of scheduling. I can meet this Wednesday and Friday and next week on Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-5pm PST. I will also be available next Wednesday from 12pm-5pm and next Friday from 1pm to 5pm PST. Could you email me at larayang@stanford.edu to let me know what time works best for you so I can send you a calendar invite and an embedded Zoom link for the interview? Thanks!
