Welcome

[edit]

Hello MeadEv and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions, such as the ones to Porky's, do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox (but beware that the contents of the sandbox are deleted frequently) rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a Help desk, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Adakiko (talk) 04:56, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please use your wp:Sandbox located at the top of the page towards the right fore experiments. Thank you Adakiko (talk) 04:56, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Hunchback (1997 film)

[edit]

Thanks for fixing the date on The Hunchback (1997 film)! The start date in that article uses the wp:template template:Start date takes a date in the {{Start Date|df=y|yyyy|mm|dd}} format. Reasoning for its use can be found in the previous link. As The Hunchback is an article about a New Zealand flick, it is best to follow New Zealand's dating convention which, I believe, is day first: e.g. 16 March 1997 and using |df=y|. Also, you might be interested in wp:ENGVAR about English variants on Wikipedia. If, for instance, the topic is about London, wp:British English would be used. If it is a topic, such as science, then the variant of the page creator would generally be used. There are of coarse, absconders who change the English variant... [edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in The Shining (film), disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please see MOS:AMP. P,TO 19104 (talk) (contribs) 18:27, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at The Shining (film), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. P,TO 19104 (talk) (contribs) 17:25, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Shining (film)

[edit]

Your addition to The Shining (film):

  • the film is also now very well known and considered by many people as one of the greatest horror films ever made. The film,s popularity continues to grow more and more over the years too.

...does not have a source. Who said that? If it was you, that would be "original research" as you did the research and published it first on Wikipedia. Wikipedia has a policy of No original research (please read). If you want to publish your views on films, I would recommend you start your own blog, Twitter account, Facebook account to publish them. May I suggest reading:

Please avoid editing when not logged in?

[edit]

You seem to be editing while both logged in and out as 2604:6000:130f:43ab:9d4d:f823:36fe:ffae (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). This might suggest you are intentionally trying to get around something. When done in a wikt:nefarious manner, it is called wp:sockpuppetry and can result in a wp:block. I suspect it is unintentional, but please be careful! Cheers Adakiko (talk) 20:36, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BTW: You can ask me a question on my talk page: Adakiko (talk) or at the wp:teahouse. There are people at the Teahouse who are more than willing to help you! Cheers Adakiko (talk) 20:41, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Instead of saving your experiment, please use preview?

[edit]

In this edit], you changed the template template:Film date to template:Filmdate which is a wp:redlink and doesn't exit. If you want to see what an edit will do, you can use Show preview to see what will happen. Please use Show preview and verify your edit is correct before clicking Publish changes. You should also leave an wp:edit summary so people will know what your reasoning is. This also makes it much easier for one to find an edit in the wp:page history.

Please use Show preview

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history, as well as helping prevent edit conflicts. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.

The Show preview button is right next to the Publish changes button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Adakiko (talk) 21:10, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to The Shining (film). Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:42, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:58, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
