JumpCloud is a U.S.-based enterprise software company[2] headquartered in Denver, Colorado.[3] The company was formally launched in 2013 at TechCrunch Disrupt Battlefield as an automated server management tool.[4] JumpCloud’s cloud based directory as a service platform is used to securely manage users identity, devices, and access across things such as VPN, Wi-Fi, Servers and workstations.[5]

It also provides software delivery for applications setup as “packages” in the “chocolatey” system, the ability to enforce basic rules on the machines, to do basic auditing and to run basic commands remotely.

History

JumpCloud received a seed round of funding of 1.2 million in December 2012, before closing a $3 million Series A round in January 2014.[6]

The company then completed Series B funding in August 2015 with a 4.3 million investment.

In November 2017, JumpCloud raised an additional $20 million series C round.[7]

In May 2019 JumpCloud then raised a series D round of financing of $50 million.[8]

In November 2020 it closed a $75 million Series E funding.[9] Shortly after in January 2021, the company added $25 million to its Series E financing, closing the oversubscribed growth round at $100 million.[10]

In September 2021, JumpCloud announced a $159 Million Series F investment, at a valuation of $2.56 Billion.[11]

Before the pandemic, JumpCloud moved into a new office in Louisville, Colorado. Since COVID-19, the company has become fully remote, staffed by employees in multiple states.[12]

Product history

In July 2015 JumpCloud integrated Google Apps into its cloud-based directory services.[13]

In May 2020 JumpCloud included general availability of its use with Apple’s Mobile Device Management(MDM) Services, managing Apple macOS devices via the MDM protocol and support for deployment through Apple’s Device Enrollment Plan (DEP).[14]

Prior to Apple's release of macOS Big Sur, JumpCloud included compatibility in November 2020.[15]

JumpCloud introduced conditional access policies in December 2020 to its directory platform, enabling IT admins to adopt Zero Trust security.[16]
