Keep - Bizarre nomination. Fist and Rose is the international, uncopyrighted, logo of the Socialist International. Non-artistic, common font rendition of organization acronym. It is not an organizational logo, it is three letters typed up by a buttonmaker. I took the photo, there is zero copyright claim there. Ya can't prove a frickin' negative, nominator needs to demonstrate that this IS in some manner, a copyrighted image! Carrite (talk) 00:15, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- @Carrite: You need to provide evidence that the logo is not copyrighted. The rose is certainly above the threshold of originality as it cannot be described a simple geometric shape. It's possible that the logo is in public domain for another reason — such as having been published before 1977 without a copyright notice — but that is something the uploader needs to prove.   - That's as ridiculous as the assertion that a hammer-and-sickle is "copyrighted unless you prove it isn't" — which is both inane and impossible. But inanity and impossibility seems to be the norm at Commons.... errrrr, at the New Improved Wikipedia. Why don't you make the fucking correct argument that it is an orphaned graphic and Wikipedia's servers can't possibly bear the burden of housing such a waste of bandwidth instead of blathering copyvio idiocy??? Delete or convert to non-free - It's not the photo itself but the contents within it, like the button displayed here. A drawing of a rose and fist, especially combined together, would be complex enough for copyright, especially per c:COM:TOO US. Well, rose and fist are familiar and recognizable, but they aren't simple shapes. As I must say, the photo may be either a derivative work or two-dimensional representation of the button with the logo. BTW, another logo of Democratic Socialists of America is more complex particularly due to two hands shaking each other.   - No offense, but I find your calling our arguments a "wrong argument" and "blathering copyvio idiocy"... a bit off... and insulting. Don't you think? We are doing our best to be civil and argue about this image as much as we can. BTW, I don't see a comparison betwee the fist/rose and hammer/sickle, which to me are two different things. Furthermore, the flag of the Soviet Union seemingly has simple geometric shapes forming a hammer and a sickle, but I can stand corrected... without name-callings and offensive words. Delete - although the photo is freely licensed, the subject of the photo is a logo that above the threshold of originality and would be copyrighted. File:Red Rose (Socialism).svg is already in use so a conversion to non-free usage doesn't seem possible. -- Whpq (talk) 18:27, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
