Hridayam is the soundtrack album for the 2022 Malayalam-film of the same name directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan. The original soundtrack and background score were composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab. The film stars Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Darshana Rajendran in the lead roles.[1] The soundtrack album was released by Mohanlal coincided with an audio launch event held at Kochi on 17th January 2022.[2] The soundtrack consist of 15 songs. Lyrics were written by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, Arun Alat and Guna Balasubramanian. Hridayam music album is also released in physical formats, including audio cassettes and music CDs after more than a decade.

Production

Vineeth roped in Hesham Abdul Wahab as the composer instead of Shaan Rahman who worked in the previous films. The initial recording was started in 2019. Shaan was also busy with some projects in 2019. Vineeth wants to bring some new talents and they both decided to give Hesham the work. Vineeth went to Istanbul to record pieces of music for the film in early 2020, where he met many musicians from the country and recorded live instruments which used for the film's music.[3] Initially, Hesham did not plan for 15 songs in the album. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in India, which interrupted the production works of the film, Vineeth thought of treating some situations musically, as a result, several songs were composed in the process. Most of the songs are situational, according to the film's theme. Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran recorded one song for this film in february 2020. It is the first time Prithviraj singing for a film which he is not acting.[4] Besides acting Darshana Rajendran has also sung a song for the film titled Darshana also.

Music Video

The video of the first song, "Darshana" (featuring Pranav Mohanlal and Darshana Rajendran) was released on 25 October 2021. It was sung by Hesham, Darshana Rajendran, and written by Arun Alat.[5] The next video song "Onakka Munthiri" (featuring Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan) sung by Vineeth's wife Divya Vineeth was released on 13 December 2021. "Thathaka Theithare", the third video song was released on 7th January 2022 which was sung by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and lyrics by Kaithapram.[6]

Reception

Times of India rated "Darshana" as one of the top 10 songs for the year 2021. They cited that Vineeth Sreenivasan gives a minimum guarantee in providing good quality songs accompanied by amazing visuals in his films and in ‘Hridayam’ too he is expected to keep up with that track record that he has maintained throughout his films.[7] Darshana gets 3.5 million views in youtube with 2 days which was a huge reception.[8] The next track "Onakka Munthiri" sung by Divya Vineeth widely accepted by the audience. The rhythm in the song was done by Vineeth himself. 4 million views were received for the song. The track was 1st in youtube music trending.[9]
