How to disclose conflict of interest
Hi user:GoingBatty, much appreciated you help as usual, but I don't have any conflict of interest over this article, I am not paid editor too, I am salaried staff of University of Nizwa to provide this type of help and support, should I forward the letter signed by me that is stating I don't have any confliction of interest over this article, as word or pdf format. Please help me how to write this. thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmed Al Harrasi (talk • contribs) 15:50, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Ahmed Al Harrasi: If you are Ahmed Al Harrasi writing about Ahmed Al Harrasi, then you have a conflict of interest. If you are NOT Ahmed Al Harrasi, then impersonating Ahmed Al Harrasi is a violation of our user policy. Salaried staff of University of Nizwa writing an article about a professor of the University of Nizwa is considered paid editing and must be disclosed on your user page - see WP:PAYDISCLOSE. Either way, go to your user page and write a couple sentences on your relationship with Ahmed Al Harrasi and the University of Nizwa. Thanks! hi user: GoingBatty. thanks for your reply, I wrote "I, Syed Mohammad Sarfaraz Hamid, https://www.unizwa.edu.om/profile_details.php?lang=en&comingfrom=&staffid=1578 work with the Natural and Medical Sciences Research Center (NMSRC) at the University of Nizwa as a Design Analyst and Developer. I disclosed that I am paid to work for the Article/Biography of Prof Ahmed Al-Harrasi, Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies, Research & External Relations, Chairman - NMSRC. Further, I am declaring that there is no conflict of anything between me, the employer and the client over Wikipedia article/biography creation. The University of Nizwa is my sponsor and the employer in the Sultanate of Oman." Should I write something else ? if it is fine should I add this text before the starting of the article ? thanks in advance for your cooperation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmed Al Harrasi (talk • contribs) 17:13, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Ahmed Al Harrasi: Please do not add a new section for each reply - just click "Edit source" and add your reply and your signature - see Help:Introduction to talk pages.
- Your proposal above is good, except the sentence starting with "Further..." - please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. This should be added to your user page: User:Ahmed Al Harrasi. GoingBatty (talk) 17:53, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
Hi user: GoingBatty, thanks again for your reply if the given is fine i will add it to the article: I, Syed Mohammad Sarfaraz Hamid, https://www.unizwa.edu.om/profile_details.php?lang=en&comingfrom=&staffid=1578 work with the Natural and Medical Sciences Research Center (NMSRC) at the University of Nizwa as a Design Analyst and Developer. Ahmed Al Harrasi (talk · contribs) has been paid by University of Nizwa. Their editing has included contributions to this article. Declaration — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmed Al Harrasi (talk • contribs) 18:15, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Ahmed Al Harrasi: I changed the employer & client fields for you. The
|U1-otherlinks=
can be changed after you add your disclosure to your userpage. You should change your username first (see Wikipedia:Changing username), and then you can change your username in {{Connected contributor (paid)}} on Draft talk:Ahmed Al-Harrasi. GoingBatty (talk) 18:25, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
thanks you very much, but didnt get the user name change, it asked Simple or complex renames (no confirmed email required): use Simple. i used it and changed to Sarfaraz Hamid, but nothing happened — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmed Al Harrasi (talk • contribs) 18:46, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Ahmed Al Harrasi: I see you successfully submitted your request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple#Ahmed Al Harrasi → Sarfaraz Hamid. I hope your request is honored and handled soon. GoingBatty (talk) 19:10, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
Hi GoingBatty, thanks for your help! yes now I am unblocked now but still my username name is not changed , still I am able to login through my old username "Ahmed Al Harrasi, but yesterday I changed it to Sarfaraz Hamid" is there anything more to do. thanks in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmed Al Harrasi (talk • contribs) 02:14, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Ahmed Al Harrasi: No, yesterday you submitted a request to have your name changed. Please be patient while someone reviews all the name change requests. In the meantime, please add your conflict of interest disclosure to User:Ahmed Al Harrasi. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 02:20, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Thnaks for your quick response! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmed Al Harrasi (talk • contribs) 02:23, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
But before disclosing it again should I have to wait for the name change and then give a try ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmed Al Harrasi (talk • contribs) 02:27, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Ahmed Al Harrasi: No, you can add the disclosure now. You can also study Help:Introduction to talk pages. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 02:29, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Hi GoingBatty, I disclosed but my new name "Sarfaraz Hamid" is red because it is still not created and I added some lines of the disclosure below it, is it fine ?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahmed Al Harrasi (talk • contribs) 02:43, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Ahmed Al Harrasi: No, please add the disclosure to User:Ahmed Al Harrasi. GoingBatty (talk) 02:48, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
Its done and should I remove the disclosure line too "I, Syed Mohammad Sarfaraz Hamid, https://www.unizwa.edu.om/profile_details.php?lang=en&comingfrom=&staffid=1578 work with the Natural and Medical Sciences Research Center (NMSRC) at the University of Nizwa as a Design Analyst and Developer. - @Ahmed Al Harrasi: But it's not done. I can tell it's not done because User:Ahmed Al Harrasi is a red link. I'll try again for the EIGHTH time: Click on this ---> User:Ahmed Al Harrasi <---- and add the disclosure. GoingBatty (talk) 03:56, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello, I've been trying to decline this item which does not pass WP:NMUSIC and which has twice been moved to main by a new account. But... keep gettng 'page unresponsve' messages after clicking on 'review' and then on decline. At that point nothing happens and the page wll not reload either. I've done a reboot etc. to no avail; everything else seems to be working OK – I can edit and review other pages it seems, but not this one. Any ideas? Orrr... if you feel it appropriate could you decline? No worries if not – I'm sure someone will do so hopefully before it gets moved again. Cheers. Eagleash (talk) 00:51, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Eagleash: Hmmm....I have the same issue, so I manually declined it. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 01:02, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Status update on Stanford faculty article
Hello, You declined an article in October because of a problem with sources (which I think I fixed) and I needed to disclose a conflict of interest (which I've since added, I believe). We had a nice chat but I was pulled away to other work. I now see that maybe the article has been declined, or maybe not - since it still says it's being reviewed on the bottom of the page. Can you tell me if all is okay and/or what next to do? Thank you so much. This is the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Geoffrey_L._Cohen CBGBcomm (talk) 22:17, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- @CBGBcomm: Much better, but a tagged a few issues to be resolved. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 23:33, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for your speedy reply. I stuck with the mantra of - if in doubt, leave it out - and removed some things that couldn't easily be backed up by a credible third party. I wasn't sure if his own CV counted as a reliable source. The review even forced a better copyedit overall from me. I believe I've resolved everything. LMK if I missed anything! Cheers CBGBcomm (talk) 01:00, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- @CBGBcomm: Accepted! Now that it's an article, you may not edit it due to your COI. Instead, you may submit suggestions on Talk:Geoffrey L. Cohen with the {{edit request}} template, or use the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard. Have a good weekend! GoingBatty (talk) 01:08, 15 January 2022 (UTC)

8-50374
Re this edit: [1] was 8-50374 → 8–50374 intended? All the other catalog numbers in that article use a hyphen. I used to be in the record business, part of my job was assigning catalog numbers, and we always used hyphens. GA-RT-22 (talk) 22:44, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
- AWB is a wonderful tool but hyphenation seems to cause more than its share of problems. Time for a rethink? Certes (talk) 22:55, 16 January 2022 (UTC)AWB
- @GA-RT-22: Thanks for letting me know and reverting my edit. I've mentioned the issue with this typo rule at WT:AWB/T#Hyphenation rules. GoingBatty (talk) 23:10, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

"off and on"
Hey! In your latest reply to a question on the help desk, I can't tell if you were genuinely trying to give a helpful response or making a joke. Not accusing of you being unhelpful, it's just that in the computer community, turning something "off and then back on" is a semi-joke because it seems to solve everything. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:45, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- I was trying to give a helpful response. Occasionally, I've been embarrassed by forgetting the simple solutions to IT problems, and attempted to word my question in a friendly manner. GoingBatty (talk) 15:53, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- Alright sounds good. Just wanted to make sure as the problem they were describing didn't sound like turning the computer off and on would do much to fix it and also above. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:16, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: The other responder believed the problem was browser based, and I hope the solution is something easy like restarting. I'm presuming that an IP wouldn't have checked a Wikipedia preference or modified a .js file or done some other hack to accidentally cause the issue. I am a fan of the UK version of The IT Crowd, but don't typically start troubleshooting with "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" :-) GoingBatty (talk) 17:35, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: I'm also a big fan of "How to Report Bugs Effectively" when receiving a bug report, but don't always remember to follow these suggestions when I submit a bug report. It's a lot harder to troubleshoot when we can't see the user's screen. GoingBatty (talk) 17:42, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- Very true. On my previous laptop (which was an HP Stream, which in my opinion is the worst laptop you could buy) I had contacted Microsoft report many times and each time they requested access to my PC for troubleshooting. I wonder if that's what caused it to quit working... they weren't actually Microsoft... hmm.... ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:46, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: It's been a while since I've gotten a Microsoft technical support scam call, but was just telling someone yesterday of the time when a scammer called our landline (back when people had those), and my young son answered and tried to respond to their questions. My son asked me for help when he couldn't install their remote access software, and I harassed the scammer until they hung up. However, calls about my (nonexistent) student loans or renewing my auto warranty still happen too frequently. GoingBatty (talk) 17:54, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- I've never received a Microsoft tech support scam call actually. There's just the chance I clicked on a link I though was legitimate but was really a scam website. Harrassing scammers is almost always the best way to get rid of them (in fact, I saw a video of someone placing the phone under a metal pot, and then banging a crap ton on the pot). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:01, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Useful resources were added in the theater and film sections
Hello dear friend Wikipedia. New resources were added in the theater and film sections. Please review and cooperate to complete my article and I hope I can create more experience for more Iranian women articles. --Karestoonegoli (talk) 09:12, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Karestoonegoli: I read the English language sources and made my comments at Draft:Zahra Meygoli. You have a lot of work to do before you're ready to resubmit your draft for review. GoingBatty (talk) 14:00, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Please review again.
It's really confusing to me, but there is a part that confuses me with the sheer volume of resource rules, but I like to talk to experienced people and learn something because it makes me feel good. Thank You I hope this problem is solved. I hope I can continue to be a good editor in the midst of all these experienced users.--Karestoonegoli (talk) 14:33, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Karestoonegoli: You don't have to add a new section header to continue the conversation in this section. You should create references like this:
- This is a statement.<ref>This is a web page that supports this statement.</ref>
- For example, the references you use in the "Theater" section should mention her theater career. Hope this helps, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 14:41, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: Hello, Yes, you are right. I'm really gaining interesting experiences so I've been talking about this article for hours now.
It is enjoyable for me. But I'm really tired of going to the wrong places, and I need the help of experienced editors to fix these problems so that it becomes an experience for me.--Karestoonegoli (talk) 14:46, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Karestoonegoli: Creating a new article is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia, especially if you've never edited Wikipedia before. To learn how to edit, you could view Help:Introduction and The Wikipedia Adventure. I suggest spending a significant amount of time editing existing articles to hone your skills. After you have gained your experience, you can gather independent reliable sources that have provided significant coverage about Meygoli, and determine whether she meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, called "notability". If so, you could follow the instructions at Help:Your first article, and be prepared for a process that may include months of waiting, rejections, and rewrites, before an article is created. GoingBatty (talk) 14:52, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: Yes, in my case you are absolutely right.
I'm an amateur editor, and you are experienced. And I take positive feedback from you and will continue to use it. But you are right, there is a lot going on on the wiki, and it is gratifying to me that I feel like I am in court and I have to answer to a lot of people who are defending it. It's beautiful for me because I talk a lot and I got interested in this kind of work. May I have many experiences with you dear ones and with you. I hope this article ends with your help, friends, so that I can enter into other projects soon.--Karestoonegoli (talk) 17:57, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: Do I really see other Iranian artists using IMDB resources? I mean they can but it is not valid for me? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golab_Adineh , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegah_Ahangarani , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zahra_Amir_Ebrahimi , | You see, they used it too. I'm really confused by all these contradictions. If they can, then I should add it to my article.
Keep in mind that this site is the best source of artistic proof for Iranian female actors. Considering the domestic policies of Iran, you should also consider this. Please help me to finish the article.--Karestoonegoli (talk) 18:20, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Karestoonegoli: Per WP:IMDB, "The content on IMDb is user-generated, and the site is considered unreliable by a majority of editors....The use of IMDb as an external link is generally considered appropriate". Each article you mentioned has IMDb in the "External links" section. I removed any references to IMDb. Please also see WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. GoingBatty (talk) 18:32, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty:So help me get the article I worked so hard for a while and get into the publishing process. You will help me with more experience to finish. Really, if I was not interested, I would have dropped the wiki by now.I hope you are with me to make great progress with you.--Karestoonegoli (talk) 18:44, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty:Thank you very much my friend. I hope that all experienced editors will support me so that I can be happy on Wikipedia, not disappoint.
I really like Wikipedia and this concern of experience. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karestoonegoli (talk • contribs) 18:49, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Thank you
Thank you, GoingBatty for your attempts to help. I have one more question -- if it is an easy one for you: how do I add names to the 'block E-mails' section of preferences. I tried a name in the box, but it did not take. Then, on retry, the "Save" box was inactive. I did manage to change my username though, prior to now giving up on "Axonometric Projection". [To paraphrase a great politician -- at least by today's standards, "They won't have LemChastain to kick around anymore." My new name should follow. I guess it is safer to not put your real name on Wiki-pedia; especially as it may remain there forever. "30" (talk) Ljc 23:09, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Lemchastain: Hi there! That's not a feature I use, but I found Wikipedia:Emailing_users#Prohibiting_email_from_specified_users, which says "If you have the email preference enabled, you can specify usernames which you do not want to be able to send you emails." So maybe you have so enable the email preference first, save that, and then add the usernames you want to exclude? GoingBatty (talk) 02:27, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Lemchastain: Just for fun, could you please try adding GoingBatty to the block E-mails section and see if that works? If it doesn't, what is the exact error message it gives you? GoingBatty (talk) 03:54, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
"A trick to get rid of me, he wondered. What if I can't reverse it, and not be able to get any more help?" Cross fingers, knock on wood, salt over shoulder, and push on. It was as simple as using the 'Enter' instead of the 'Tab' (which I must have used on prior tries). Reversal was effected simply by clicking on the 'X' for user to be restored. I will next be looking into 'barnstars', but for now, give yourself a Distelfink. And, thanks again. (talk) Ljc 16:03, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Lemchastain: Sorry - I didn't think that asking you to use my username would make it seem like I'm trying to get rid of you. I'll pick User:JimboWales next time. Thanks for confirming it works, and for teaching me what a Distelfink is. GoingBatty (talk) 16:10, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Dear GoingBatty, I've been told to not make any personal statements on a user's Talk page -- certainly not issue Distelfinks; so I may have to go back an edit out that initial "Thank you", and the subsequent, "And thanks again." But, Barnstars, apparently, are impersonal. I must be on a few Watch(out!) lists, but hope you get to see this; unlike the other intended Distelfink recipient. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lemchastain (talk • contribs) 03:59, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Lemchastain: While it's inappropriate to make personal statements in an article (e.g. Axonometric projection), and inappropriate to try to talk to the subject of an article on an article talk page (e.g. Talk:Rosie Stephenson-Goodknight), it's perfectly fine to leave a nice "Thank you" comment to another Wikipedia editor on their user talk page (e.g. this page). Hope this clarifies some of the types of pages on Wikipedia. GoingBatty (talk) 04:09, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
Dear GoingBatty, Well, a certain editor that is getting a lot of 'get well soon' wishes on its Talk page told me that comments are only for improving the 'Article' part. But, if I could thank you, I would do it again for the quick reply. (talk) Ljc 04:21, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Lemchastain: Yes, your edits on Talk:Rosie Stephenson-Goodknight were inappropriate, because that page is only for discussing how to improve the Rosie Stephenson-Goodknight article, not to talk to Rosie. (I think the discussion about the T-shirt was a request for a photograph of her wearing something more formal, not for a topless picture!) However, this is a User talk page, where the goal is to talk to another Wikipedia user. See the video on Help:Talk pages for more info. GoingBatty (talk) 05:54, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks that distinction eluded me. (talk) Ljc 17:26, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
resubmit my article?
Hi dear friend. I hope the situation is very good. I need your help. Because you are really experienced and I enjoy being with all the experienced and logical editors. And that has led me to enjoy many hours on the wiki. Now your opinion is important to me. After these edits, I can resubmit my article? Draft:Zahra Meygoli. --Karestoonegoli (talk) 21:17, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Karestoonegoli: I suggest you do not resubmit your draft until you deal with all the references that have {{failed verification}} and {{citation needed}} templates. GoingBatty (talk) 21:36, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: I will definitely do this. I really like growing up on a wiki with professional editors like you. Just help me complete this and how do I delete them? Does it need to be added? --Karestoonegoli (talk) 21:43, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Karestoonegoli: Please read Template:Failed verification and move/replace the references appropriately. GoingBatty (talk) 21:50, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: Hi, I acted on all your statements for hours with tired eyes and separated the sources related to each part and deleted the extra links. Please check I need someone with a lot of experience like you and I really enjoy it. I hope everything is fixed.--Karestoonegoli (talk) 23:10, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Karestoonegoli: I can only read the English references, but it seems you still have some issues with failed verification and citations needed. Most of your English language references are for the sentence "Meygoli is an only child and her husband is one of the people who have encouraged her a lot in her success", which is probably the least important sentence in the whole draft. You could delete the sentence and focus more on her career. You mention that "Her first movie as a director is Salvation", but then the table says Mojtaba Rezaei was the director - which is it? The lead mentions she is a producer and singer, but nowhere in the draft do you mention what she has produced or sung. GoingBatty (talk) 23:47, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
- @GoingBatty: Hello dear friend, I hope you have good moments. The said work was done according to your useful guidance and your great experience.--Karestoonegoli (talk) 11:58, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Nazanin1376: Hi there, and congratulations on the name change! Note that you don't have to {{ping}} someone on their own user talk page. There are still citations needed for the films 24 room number and Sourosh. Either provide information about her work as a director, producer, and singer - or remove those words from the first sentence. Eight references in a row is citation overkill - please read WP:REFBOMB. Do the Theater references mention Meygoli and the roles she performed in those plays? GoingBatty (talk) 16:16, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for reminding me to change my name. I'm busy enough with experienced friends on the wiki. I am correcting and fixing the flaws of the article and I hope it will be finished with you soon and I will be able to continue in this direction and publish many articles. And especially editing ( Regarding the movies he has acted in, the source is mentioned in IMDB. In the actors section, every movie is recorded in IMDB when it is recorded with the actors and agents of the movie, but unfortunately you said that this site is for You have no credit. And I really do not know how to say he played the movie.). --Nazanin1376 (talk) 17:00, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Nazanin1376: I see several films listed at https://www.imdb.com/name/nm12979462/ but I do not see 24 room number or Sourosh (or Salvation). GoingBatty (talk) 17:16, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- Usually, short films are not listed on IMDB, but their feature films are listed. I had to announce this box of short films because you said that this site is not valid, in these short films with few Persian sources. Please, if you deem it appropriate, edit the same feature films listed on that site.--Nazanin1376 (talk) 17:30, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Nazanin1376: Please provide a source for the short films or remove them from the draft. According to IMDb, Meygoli acted in many films you have not listed in the draft. Can you find reliable sources for any of those films? GoingBatty (talk) 17:36, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- There is no more reliable source for filmmakers than this site, because on this site each user sends information about the actor and agents of a movie to record it. This site reviews the requests and after sending a message to the producer and director, publishes the names of the background film agents. Please check this out more my dear friend.--Nazanin1376 (talk) 18:03, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Nazanin1376: If the short films are not listed on IMDb, how do you know she acted in these short films? GoingBatty (talk) 18:50, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- As I told you before and I repeat again because our city is a small city and everyone knows each other and knows each other. Meanwhile, his wife is a very famous person who is known by the great creators of Iranian cinema and is one of the prominent people of this city of Bushehr. I have already heard short films at his wife's seminars, so when I do not see the site as credible, I have to listen to what he hears at their seminars in this city. And insert the said videos.--Nazanin1376 (talk) 19:14, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Nazanin1376: Your draft cannot contain any of your personal knowledge. It must solely be based on independent reliable published sources. When creating an article, you should first collect the reliable published sources, and then summarize/paraphrase what you have read. Please remove anything that is not based on independent reliable published sources. GoingBatty (talk) 19:18, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

Dear, please help me to finish this article. Wherever you need, you have more experience than the information I have collected, make changes so that I can see and become more professional in this work. Thank you in advance for your help, dear friend.--Nazanin1376 (talk) 14:19, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Nazanin1376: I am not able to write this draft, as I am unable to read Persian. Therefore, I am unable to find independent reliable sources that provide significant coverage of her career and am unable to verify the sources that you provided. GoingBatty (talk) 14:38, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
Can User:BattyBot's task #34 remove redirect-related templates?
Per page User:BattyBot, task #34 is Add {{WikiProject Disambiguation}} to existing talk pages for all disambiguation pages
. Could you also please remove transclusions of {{Talk page of redirect}} (and redirects to this template) from talk pages in this task? For example, in this edit transclusion of {{Talk page of a redirect}} should have been removed, because the page William Smelt stopped being a redirect. —andrybak (talk) 14:30, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Andrybak: I used AWB to make a list of all the pages in Category:All article disambiguation pages and converted the list to talk pages. I then compared that list to all the pages that transclude {{Talk page of a redirect}}, and did not find any results. Since it seems to be a one-off, I'm not able to submit a bot request to update this bot task. GoingBatty (talk) 17:26, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

Thanks so much for the quick reply to my Help Desk inquiry. But the link you provided ([2]) simply brings up the redirect notice, nothing editable. I can of course pull up the revision history and look at, and even edit, previous incarnations of the article, but working on an old version would be like replacing parts and souping up a vehicle that's abandoned in a junkyard. How do I proceed with the tinkering and then request that the restored car be, as it were, hauled out of salvage? -- 2603:6081:8004:DD5:51C:8F86:ED2F:527E (talk) 00:22, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hi there! The link I provided is editable - I just added a redirect template to it. You could start Draft:Scotts Fork, Virginia if you want to tinker. GoingBatty (talk) 00:40, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- Another respondent to my question suggested I re-create the article more or less from scratch, and then submit it for approval (I've expanded several Amelia-related articles in the last few weeks, so I have plenty of sources and material to work with). Does the "draft" link do the same thing? -- 2603:6081:8004:DD5:51C:8F86:ED2F:527E (talk) 05:21, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
