Article title

The title "Passenger locomotives in use in the UK" is very confusing, as the vast proportion of the entries in the list are multiple units, rather than locomotives. Any suggestions for a more appropriate title? --David Biddulph (talk) 09:32, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Out of date

This is just to remind myself (and let others know) that I'll be updating this if no one else does Anamyd (talk) 10:05, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

i've just updated parts of it, but it's nowhere near up to date. help would be appreciated. MJ9674 (talk) 15:08, 28 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nice one, I see (among other things) TfW Rail 170 in here now :) I'll help when I'm properly "back" doing this sort of thing, but images can be updated using the same file names as in the train class and train operating company articles, and numbers in fleet can be got from those articles too. I can add (a) row(s) if you let me know which one(s) to add. I have corrected a few things like Northern ---> Northern Trains, LNR having 87 350s not 77, etc. Anamyd logged out --91.125.45.125 (talk) 12:25, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Needs updating

I am a huge train nerd, but I cannot seem to figure out how to make it work. I am pretty sure the Class 08 needs to be here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LondonUnderground12 (talkcontribs) 00:51, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Article name / Northern Ireland

The title of this article is British railway rolling stock, but the article says United Kingdom (but which links to a "British" article!) and includes the NI Railways fleet. How do you change the title of an article...? Northern Ireland is only in the United Kingdom, not Britain. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.125.45.125 (talk) 12:31, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Northern Ireland is part of the British Isles. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:47, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I would not usually include Northern Ireland in "Britain" (a political label) which in my school geography lessons this was different to the British Isles (a physical geographic description).
But this does raise an important question about the scope of this article. Where are the LT and similar fleets? What about freight operators? The hauled carriages? Geof Sheppard (talk) 17:01, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Franchise dates

Do we really need the franchise dates in this list of rolling stock? I can't see the relevance and it would be one less thing to keep up to date. Geof Sheppard (talk) 16:47, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Build years of units, locomotives and carriages

Could we put these in...? I'd like to 143.159.50.70 (talk) 02:36, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You could, but can you find reliable sources to cite for the dates for each operator? For example, Colas Rail's 66s are a different date to DB Cargos. Geof Sheppard (talk) 16:57, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ah yes that could be an issue, although the TOC pages don't seem to cite any sources for the build years and it doesn't seem to be a problem.143.159.50.70 (talk) 23:40, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

170s

170 allocation is badly out of date - EMR section shows just 2 with them and both ex-ScotRail /4s. EMR now has 13 170s - 5x 3-car ex-ScotRail /4s (170416/417/418/419/420), 7x 2-car ex-WMR /5s (170503/511/515/530/531/532/534) and 1x 2-car ex-TfW /2 (170273). I'll probably sort it out later unless someone else does before me. 51.7.117.160 (talk) 15:21, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
