Tia Kansara
Dr Tia Kansara is a multi-award winning green entrepreneur who is dedicating her life’s work to foster a global movement that recognises the world’s limitless abundance.
Tia is the CEO of Replenish Earth, the first Net Positive certified company in the UK, and the Co-Founder of Kansara Hackney Ltd, the first ISO-certified sustainable lifestyle consultancy. Tia is a globally-recognized keynote speaker on topics ranging from sustainable cities, business performance, to health and wellbeing. She has been hosted by Google, the World Happiness Foundation, to the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology to name a few.
As a qualified economist and future cities thought leader, she also shares her expertise through her advisory services, where she has worked with multi-national institutions and policy-makers such as the UNFCCC, The British Council, The Economic Times of India, not to forget the Royal Family of Bhutan. More recently at COP 26 she hosted the Resilience Lab pavilion, a UNFCCC initiative, and is involved with manifesting COP 27.
Her ability to find balance between business and climate equilibrium makes her the first choice of corporate giants such as Coca Cola, Forbes, and National Geographic, when designing their climate change adaptation strategies.
Complementing her advisory work is her research on how cities of the future may Replenish Earth through collective and individual ecosystem services, the theme of her PhD. She is published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and has presented her work in international conferences while acting as a visiting Professor at CEPT University.
Her empowering story and impressive work ethic was awarded with the Royal Institute British Architects honorary fellowship, she is the youngest to ever receive a lifetime achievement award from its 188 year history. Other notable achievements include being selected as the Financial Times' 'Top 100 minority ethnic leaders in technology’ and starring as the first woman to judge a LEED platinum building in Saudi Arabia for the Saudi American Bank‘s multi-million dollar headquarters.
Education
Kansara achieved her Duke of Edinburgh Award in 1999 while studying at Birmingham's City Technology College and was an International Baccalaureate ambassador to the UK Government.[1]
In 2005 she graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London with a degree in Economics with South Asian Studies and then moved to Japan for three years teaching English and studying Japanese. Following the 2011 Fukushima earthquake, recorded a fundraising song.[2]
In 2016 she completed her PhD research at University College London on the theme of sustainable cities.
In November 2018, Kansara was named to the Financial Times' list of the 'Top 100 minority ethnic leaders in technology.'[3]
Personal life
Her family was originally from Gujarat, India and she is currently based in the UK and Abu Dhabi.[4]
