Apis lithohermaea is an extinct species of honey bee in the dorsata species group. It is one of the biggest honey bees ever discovered, matching the modern Apis dorsata.[1]

Paleontology

The type specimen of A. lithohermaea is a fossil, collected from Iki Island, Japan.[1]

In culture

ARK: Survival Evolved

In September 2016, the "Giant Bee" animal was added to ARK: Survival Evolved, themed after the species.[2]
