Darryl is framed for murder in Crimes and Witch Demeanors

General information

Synopsis

Template:Spoiler When Phoebe and Paige are caught on tape using their powers, the Cleaners, who prevent the exposure of magic, cover up the situation by implicating Darryl as a murderer and sending him to death row. The sisters call a council of Demons and Elders who oversee all magic to convince them that Darryl should be set free. Instead, the prosecutor, Barbas, turns the proceedings around and puts the sisters on trial for recklessly abusing their powers. Meanwhile, Leo and Chris work together to help free the sisters and Darryl, but the outcome leaves Phoebe stripped of her powers.

Trivia

  • The episode title is a play on words to the film Crimes and Misdemeanors.
  • Another title used to promote this episode by The WB was Charmed on Trial.
  • Barbas returns in this episode.
  • The episode consisted of a series of clips from previous episodes mixed together with newer footage.
  • Phoebe lost the use of her individual powers in this episode (premonitions, levitation, empathy). She retained her powers as a witch, as a Charmed One, which enables her to continue to act as part of the Power of Three and cast spells. Phoebe earned back her power of premontion in the season 7 episode "Styx Feet Under". Whether or not she earns back her powers of levitation and empathy are unknown.
  • None of the clips shown in the trailer for this episode were used in the episode itself
  • This is the beginning of Darryl's refusal to aid the sisters in their dilemmas.
  • Gideon's initial invocation to the Tribunal basically translates to "I say, behold this hour, for my wife will kill me."
  • Detective Sheridan shares the same surname with Prue's co-worker/lover Jack Sheridan (season 2)
  • It appears that Paige's powers advance in this episode, when she says "orb away", making a coffee stand orb into nothingness.
  • The Tribunal said that Phoebe would be stripped of her active powers but premonitions is known as a passive power. RESPONSE: In this use the term 'active' is used to refer to Phoebe's unique powers - premonition, empathy and levitation
  • Pheobe has her last premontion in this episode off-screen.

International titles
