Pétur Fannar Gunnarsson moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Pétur Fannar Gunnarsson, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Speedy deletion nomination of Hans Galke
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Hans Galke requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.wikidancesport.com/wiki/1143/hans-galke. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. power~enwiki (π, ν) 03:40, 17 November 2020 (UTC)
The article Barbara McColl has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. A welcome and a note with advice and info
Welcome!
Hello, Dancelord, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created is an unreferenced biography of a living person. The Wikipedia community has decided that all biographies of living persons (BLPs) created after 18 March 2010 must have reliable sources, or they can be deleted.
This is not a judgement of the quality or notability of your article. If someone has put a {{prod blp}} template on the article (click this link to see what it looks like), you have seven days to add at least one reliable source to the article. Once you have added at least one reliable source to the article, you can remove the template. (To learn more about what is a reliable source, read Wikipedia:Reliable sources, and to learn how to cite sources, read Wikipedia:Citing sources. Or if you want an easier newcomer's look at citing sources, read Help:External links and references first.)

Hi Dancelord, welcome to Wikipedia! I think you've found an area where our coverage is very poor, thank you very much for starting articles on prominent Latin-style dancers. However, you're not including references, and that's against our policies and is likely to result in the articles being deleted unless you add some; hence the messages on this page. It's especially problematic because you're writing about living people, and as an encyclopedia with millions of readers, we have to take great care not to write anything about a living person that's not supported by sources, because even a positive thing that is inaccurate could do real harm. I've given you an overdue "welcome" message above and chose the one that emphasizes this issue, but you can see that it includes links to other policies. The other one that arises with your articles is that it's necessary to demonstrate what we call "notability", which is that the topic merits a page in the encyclopedia. This is normally also established through references: if a person has been written about at length on several occasions, in newspapers or books for example, that makes them "notable". The other way is that we have special sets of criteria for different kinds of topics; the one that would suit your topics best seems to me to be sports people, with the winning of major dance contests like Blackpool being the important qualification, but I also considered entertainers. As I say, I think you've found area where we don't have much coverage. I suggest you include references demonstrating all contest wins plus any other news articles you can find. But since these are living people, you must include some reference. To give you an idea, I first looked at Barbara McColl, because that will be deleted in a few days' time unless someone adds at least one acceptable source and removes the proposed deletion template. I think these two references can be used:
- Dancesport, on her and one of her partners
- 1994 magazine article on one of their wins at Blackpool
- news article that refers to her as a four-time winner and organizer.
I don't know how reliable a source Dancesport is; we can't use reader-generated content with no editorial oversight, like IMDb or the dance wiki. But for Draft:Pétur Fannar Gunnarsson I also find what looks like a useful reference there:
and two useful Icelandic newspaper articles (I only searched one of the Icelandic newspapers):
- (top right) on a win in London with his former partner
- on his falling in love with his more recent partner.
I hope these give you some ideas about what kind of stuff to look for and add to your articles, and that I've helped you understand what the problem is. Yngvadottir (talk) 00:31, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
