Don't tread on me was a phrase first coined by American Revolutionaries before the American Revolutionary War in 1776 against the Crown in England. The phrase also appears on the Cullpepper Minute Men's yellow gadsden flag below a rattlesnake that's about to strike.

Don't Tread On Me is also a Cro-Mags song and a Metallica song.
