Professional

I am an aviation professional for +30 years, focusing on airports and airline pages in Wikipedia but also contributing where I find mistakes elsewhere. As an interdisciplinary Subject Matter Expert I do consulting work with a focus on aviation. My personal professional tag cloud can be found on my private webpage.

“Juergen is one of the very few people, I really mean, very few, people that
understand both airlines and airports.” [Ned Macesic, former VP SITA.aero]

Following the project lead on the development of a business plan for a new pan-European aviation company, we are funding phase, delayed by a Pandemic and other geopolitical setbacks. KOLIBRI.aero has been developed under consideration of the The U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. Plans include real social responsibility and sustainable developments.

On Airportinfo.aero (a B2B-site) I do a lot of research to support the complex Catchment Area analyses for airline and airport network planners, based on population within Isochrones (drive time zones). As part of the development and as we reference the Wikipedia extract on the general information page on Airportinfo.aero, I keep using Wikipedia for reference and add notes to talk pages when I find mistakes or issues needing attention. Unfortunately, Wikipedia does not have a good reputation in aviation as a lot of articles for secondary aeronautical locations are outdated if not even incorrect. My own experience is also that maintenance is very time-consuming and I've been unable to add even my own comapanies' logos to Wikimedia or public logos of airports or airlines. So I don't maintain but add the occasional note(s) to the talk pages.

I am also working in other areas related to aviation network planning, A-CDM, flight disruption and deicing management as well as airport operations centers. My professional "profile" can be found on LinkedIn

As of my professional background I mostly use the English Wikipedia and also happen to write and comment mostly in English. And I am not a professional developer, so I may do mistakes, but hope nobody will find them. I also am sorry that I cannot mass-contribute our findings (i.e. latest and most accurate airport passenger statistics) in Wikipedia, but if you work in aviation, you might enjoy free access to that part of our work on the CheckIn.com website.

I run a personal blog called FoodForThought focusing mostly on matters related to (regional) aviation.

Personal

Commuting between Albania and Germany I enjoy a small intercultural and "all girls" family. I love the Mediterranean, sun and beaches (water sports).

Geneally I believe that most of our day-to-day problems are from greed (a mortal sin), which is why I am still not rich but spend "valuable time" contributing to the aviation industry, Wikipedia and other causes.

I added myself to the Wikipedia Aviation Project hoping to find help to make use of the general data we constantly compile, update and improve on Airportinfo.aero. Without replicating the content of the database by adding thousands of new data or changes by hand into the Wikipedia pages...
