User talk:76.22.4.86
FWIW, I've previously been welcomed at the (theoretically) static IPs:
- 24.29.35.187 'tools' contribs Talk (532 edits)
- 71.231.107.188 'tools' contribs Talk (1,397 edits)
- 24.18.215.132 'tools' contribs Talk (958 edits)
- 24.17.48.241 'tools' contribs Talk (3,133 edits) (didn't actually ever get welcomed at this IP {sniff})
- 'Tools' contribs for this IP (98 edits since I got assigned this IP 17:43, 8 February 2007)
That's in addition to the >25,000 edits dating back to February 2004 under my main, now inactive, username, and another >8,000 under my main username at Simple English Wikipedia. 76.22.4.86 19:12, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Most of this 'top of the page' stuff would be on my user page, but that would be a "new article" so I can't create it. To quote User:ONUnicorn/The problem with Wikipedia... AND the solution, "Oh, and we mustn't forget the Anons! They were forbidden to taste of the fruit of the Userpage." 76.22.4.86 01:13, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Manual of Style, etc. pages that explain many of my edits
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings)#Capitalization (only proper nouns get caps in section headers)
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links)#Overlinking and underlinking: what's the best ratio (linking bare years is rarely advisable)
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Dates containing a month and a day (but if there's more than just a bare year, it should be linked)
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Dates of birth and death (birth and death locations belong in the article body, not in the parenthetical birth/death date phrase)
- Wikipedia:Citing sources#What to do when a reference link "goes dead" (dead external links should be fixed or flagged)
Other guidance often violated and/or under-used
- Help:Moving a page (don't use cut&paste to move or rename articles)
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions (policy regarding article titles)
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions#Use common names of persons and things (specifically 'most common' trumps 'correct')
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style (national varieties of English) (don't change from American English to British English or vice versa (or between other countries' varieties) unless there is a good, defensible reason to do so)
- Wikipedia:Disambiguation (disambiguation phrases should not be piped and should have no other words linked)
- Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Top links (Dab headers belong "...at the top." of an article. Not 'near the top', not 'at the top, but below any images or infoboxes', THE TOP. This is largely due to them being navigation utilities, NOT part of the actual article, so visually they should clearly stand above all the other bits that make up the actual article.)
- Wikipedia:As of (current way to make sure articles with time-sensitive information can be identified for needed updates.
