S. N. Goenka was an industrialist and former leader of the Burmese Indian community. He is mainly known for his teaching of Vipassana meditation. He was originally drawn to Vipassana in an effort to overcome extreme migraine he had experienced since his youth, but ultimately became deeply involved in the philosophy and practice at the deepest levels.
