Marie Morimoto (born February 23, 2004 in Tokyo) is a Japanese idol and a member of the female idol group Hinatazaka 46.
Career
In 2017, Morimoto was a finalist in the 15th All Japan National Beauty Contest, held by Oscar Promotion.
In 2018, Morimoto took part in the Sakamichi Joint Audition. She was accepted into the Sakamichi Series on August 19, but was not assigned to a group and became a Sakamichi Kenshūsei (trainee) instead. Her assignment to Hinatazaka46 was announced on February 16, 2020 in a Showroom stream.
She shares her birthday with fellow Hinatazaka46 member and former Kenshūsei, Haruyo Yamaguchi.
Personal life
Marimoto lived in Paris, France from shortly after birth to age 4 due to her father's work. She uses the Western pronunciation and spelling Marie (まりぃ, Marī, with elongated i) instead of Mari (まり) to make it easier for the local people to call her and to express her wish to be active internationally.
