Concerns regarding your edits for The Trade Desk

I am writing to learn about the reasoning behind your repeated attempts to revert The Trade Desk article back to an earlier version, that was flagged for multiple potential violations, without further elaboration.

The version (that you insist on revert back to) suffers from multiple flags, including:

  • written like an advertisement
  • exaggeration of facts
  • inaccurate information (and for half the article, repeated information)
  • lack of proper sub-headers to segment information

I respect that you are the one who created the company page in the first place, but objectively the new edits are cleaner, removes repetition, and has addressed all concerns of the old version.

So I would like to see what your reasonings are. Please elaborate, thank you.

Thank you for starting the above article. Just letting you know - I have 5x expanded it and nominated it for DYK, crediting you as creator, of course. I have suggested a hook, but you are very welcome to add more hooks - I am struggling for ideas. He seems to have been very involved in the West African aspect of the business, although his home appears to have been consistently in the Greater Manchester area. I'm wondering if there is anything else we could say about West Africa?

I noted the reqphoto template, and I have searched for an image of him, but with no luck so far. I suspect that the University of Toronto which holds all those Nigerian 1910 photos might have one dated before 1927, but have not yet plucked up the courage to ask them.

Cheers. Storye book (talk) 14:48, 13 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for the ALT1, that's a lot better - a fresh eye makes all the difference. I have added it to the template. As for the photo, I couldn't even find an in-copyright photo, so I still don't know what he looked like. Storye book (talk) 09:29, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

AFD work

The Barnstar of Diligence
I have noticed your consistent effort in regulating and clearing articles. Thank you! And good work. NiklausGerard (talk) 22:30, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you kindly, NiklausGerard. Wikipedia continues to be a target for spammers, COI and paid editors who view it as just another social media site. MER-C creates regular reports of "Suspicious new articles" at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Spam. I try to find older articles that may have been overlooked. Anyone can try to find them, for example by a simple search for articles containing two or more keywords. I just experimented with "blockchain entrepreneur" and turned up Gaius Chibueze, which was deleted in January 2020, and recreated in February 2021. I have requested a G4 speedy deletion. Not being an admin, I cannot easily determine if it is "substantially identical to the deleted version", but this is very much the sort of person who would benefit from a Wikipedia presence, yet their presence on Wikipedia is unlikely to be beneficial to the wider project. DYK for Phillips O'Brien

On 19 April 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Phillips O'Brien, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Phillips O'Brien revised World War Two? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Phillips O'Brien. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Phillips O'Brien), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I see that you mentioned on your User:Edwardx/tocreate page the Bukhmans brothers. You may be interested in these requests - Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2022 April 21. --Rotterdamned (talk) 15:09, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Penguin Pool

Thank you for your photo of the Penguin Pool, London Zoo. I hope I have put it to good use. KJP1 (talk) 15:20, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

KJP1, good to see it making a modest contribution to a fine new article. Taken 11 years ago - how time flies. Edwardx (talk) 22:41, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Did you pick up any of the penguins? Philafrenzy (talk) 08:23, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Slippery customers. And they stink of fish. Edwardx (talk) 09:09, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But some of them taste of mint. Philafrenzy (talk) 11:34, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
... after they've brushed their teeth. Edwardx (talk) 12:58, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do penguins have teeth? Whispyhistory (talk) 21:20, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Penguin is toothless on the subject. According to Penguins International, they have a bill, tongue and papillae, but no teeth. Just as well. If it is difficult to get a good NHS dentist here, it must be a real challenge in Antarctica. Edwardx (talk) 15:13, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the British Antarctic Survey have excellent medical care including dental, but the penguins rarely call upon the dental facilities. Philafrenzy (talk) 19:46, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Am I allowed to edit the article on the biscuit? Whispyhistory (talk) 19:01, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, you can take the biscuit. It could do with a photo for starters. Next time you are out shopping, please p-p-p-pick up a Penguin. Edwardx (talk) 07:42, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
will do :) Whispyhistory (talk) 16:01, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
