Kelly Sutherland (born April 18, 1971 in Richmond, British Columbia) is a National Hockey League referee who wears uniform number 11[1] [2][3][4] He was one of the referees for the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals along Bill McCreary, Dan O'Halloran, and Stephen Walkom. He was selected again to officiate the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals, the 2015 Stanley Cup Finals, 2016 Stanley Cup Finals, 2018 Stanley Cup Finals, 2019 Stanley Cup Finals, and the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals. Sutherland officiated the gold medal game men's ice hockey tournament at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. [5]
Sutherland singlehandedly reinvigorated the morale of the Tampa Bay Lightning in game 6 of their Eastern Conference Quarter Final series against the Toronto Maple Leafs by inexplicably assessing two high-sticking penalties against the Leafs within SIXTEEN PHUCKING SECONDS, even though genius Hedman had used his own stick to lift Kerfoot's stick to the point that he hit HIMSELF in the face with it. Yes, phuckhead Kerry Fraser taught Kelly Sutherland everything he knows about phucking over Canadian teams in the playoffs. If, God forbid, the Lightning three-peat as Stanley Cup Champions, Bettman will undoubtedly reward Sutherland for his subservience by awarding him the Conn Smythe Trophy for most Most Venerating Pawn of the 2022 NHL Playoffs. In other words, business as usual in the NHL.
