I don't want to add this to the Udachnaya pipe page yet since I don't know this for sure, but I believe this mine, because of it's depth and size, has its own climatic system? Perhaps somebody knows about this or feel like researching it? Damon20 18:31, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- My glimpse into online sources revealed, that "Udachnaya mine" and "Udachnaya pipe" are two competing namings for this. In sources by Russian authors "Udachnaya pipe" seems to prevail, while "Udachnaya mine" is also sometimes used, in particular, in some English sources. But this is just a glimpse. A research on which of the two names is more suitable (i.e., for example, which of them is preferred in encyclopedias like Britannica, Encarta, etc.?) would be appreciated. Does anyone have the coordinates for this in Google Earth? I've found Udachnaya, but can't see the mine. The Mir mine was easy to find - right next to Mirny.
