Félix Matthew Banks (February 18th, 1999), known professionally as 7ELIX, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, engineer and more. He is a member of the collective "closedcasketclique".
Born in Asheville, North Carolina and raised in Leicester, Félix began producing music in 2011 in one of friend's bedrooms under the name "DJ Muffle". His original genres included progressive house, progressive trance, and techno music inspired heavily by Daft Punk and Deadmau5. Félix moved onto producing EDM Trap in 2014 after being introduced to the genre by one of his friends. He began producing beats for two of his close friends, Kyam Gibran Jr. (KY:AM) and Morgan Dysert (LeGacy) the same year. After graduating high school, Félix attended college at Maryville College where he began writing and recording his own songs.
Early Life
Félix Matthew Banks was born "Dillon Matthew Banks" on February 18th, 1999, in Asheville, North Carolina to lab technician Roger Banks and Lowe's store manager Kimberly Wells. Félix has two siblings: Megan Banks and Hayden Hollar. His father attended Mars Hill University. His father's family is from Haywood County and his mother's family is from Buncombe County.
Félix experienced trauma from a very early age - verbal, mental, emotional, and psychological. His mother was very neglectful and would often time purposely dress up to scare him and make him cry as a young child. Félix recounts
I can remember very vividly my mother and my sister dressing up as Elvira when I was... shit, 2 or 3... and terrorizing me throughout the house. My dad worked for Coca-Cola so he had to go on business trips a lot so they would do this to me when he wasn't home. I would crawl towards his bedroom, screaming for him, and hide under the bed. They used to laugh as I cried and mocked me, only making me cry harder.
Dillon began experiencing depression and anxiety around the age 14 and self-medicated with marijuana. Around the same age is when his alternate personality, Félix, became dominant and replaced Dillon.
