A Very Backstreet Christmas is the tenth (ninth in the United States) studio album and the first Christmas album by the Backstreet Boys. Originally slated for release in 2021, it was ultimately delayed due to the pandemic and is due for release on October 14, 2022.[1]

Background

With their DNA World Tour postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Backstreet Boys started working on their first Christmas album in March 2021.[2] On July 12, they officially announced their return to Las Vegas for a holiday residency scheduled for November and December 2021.[3][4] On August 14, band member Nick Carter revealed that they had finished recording the album and had done photo shoot for the album cover.[5] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the album failed to meet the production deadline,[6] forcing them to reschedule the album to release to late 2022. The band also cancelled their 2021 holiday residency in Las Vegas.[7]

On June 17, 2022, prior to the concert in Rogers, Arkansas during their DNA tour, an advertisement for their upcoming Christmas album was shown on screen, with a link to pre-order the album on their website.[8] Since that show, the advertisement has always been shown on every concert date. On July 7, 2022, the group formally announced that the album will be released on October 14, 2022.[1]
