Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering is an engineering college located in the Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh,India. Near by cities Guntur and Vijayawada.

KLC Engineering college is affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur. The college is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.

History

The college was established in 1980 by late Sri Koneru Lakshmaiah & Sri K.Satyanarayana. Late Sri K.Lakshmaiah studied Engineering in BMS College of Engineering in Bangalore and later established a number of industries in Vijayawada and its surrounding areas. On realizing the scarcity of talented Engineers, he came up with the idea of establishing an Engineering college in the rural setting so as the local population can also be benefited. Thus the birth of the College has taken place and he continuously and constantly strived hard to make it as one of the foremost Engineering Colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh till he breathed last in the year 1999. Since then Sri K. Satyanarayana, a young, enthusiastic and also an Engineering graduate from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore, the Secretary and Correspondent has taken over the reins as Chairman and is guiding with a mission to make the college as the best in Engineering education. The names of the sons of Sri Koneru Lakshmaiah are Satyanarayana,Krishna, and Srinivas Koneru

Departments

The College started with four conventional Disciplines in 1980. At present it offers 9 programmes in the undergraduate courses and Electrical and Electronics Engineering EEE [1] is an extraordinary discipline and 5 programmes in the post-graduate courses. It is the first Engineering college in Andhra Pradesh which started Industrial & Production Engineering branch in undergarduate courses. It has a total built up area of 38045 m². Each branch has a separate building with well established laboratories. The college has three computer centers catering to the computing needs of the students and staff. The college has a very good workshop housing various trades. The Freshman Engineering Department is a unique concept of KLCE to nurture the incoming fresh first year students in diverse activities.

The library, the college's prime information source, has a rich collection of books, journals, magazines and News Papers. The college has a boy's hostel at a walkable distance from the college premises and girl's hostel is located with in the college premises.
