- I was adding a link to Stewart Bagnani in the entry on Nancy Dillow, fn 7 and I`ve been told something is wrong with my external link. What does this mean?Joan arden murray (talk) 13:19, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
- DID IT!Joan arden murray (talk) 13:37, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) A small and very common mistake, I do it all the time. The |url=... is for the direct link on the website including the https://... (or http://... for some websites) The |website=... is the name of the overall website always starting with www. I guess they want both since so many websites have sub-sections and all kinds of things, so the "long address" might look a bit different (or even have a different name!) from the shorter main site for all the pages. I've fixed it for you. Take a look. cart-Talk 13:46, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

- wd this link be any help to a photo of nancy dillow? file:///C:/Users/Jean%20Murray/AppData/Local/Temp/Temp1_RE_%20Nancy.zip/Nancy%20Soon%205%20Sept%201959.pdf? the last part of the link anyway. it was "nancy soon takes post full season", globe and mail, sept 1959, p.17Joan arden murray (talk) 17:20, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I can't access the file. The url is incomplete or it can only be seen local on your account. Anyway, since you say it is from the Globe and Mail, it is a copyrighted picture. The "loophole" I could use for Sybille Pantazzi, doesn't work for Nancy since she is alive. We can only do the non-free rationel for dead people. The argument is that as long as someone is still alive, it is possible to take a copyright-free photo of the person. cart-Talk 20:04, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Precious
Canadian art
Thank you for quality articles about Canadian artists and curators, based on scientific expertise, such as Nancy Dillow, Walter Yarwood and Sybille Pantazzi, for adopting our many written and unwritten rulez of editing fast and willing, - Joan, you are an awesome Wikipedian!
You are recipient no. 2441 of Precious, a prize of QAI. It's a pleasure to meet you. Consider to have your work presented on the Main page in the DYK section, - just ping me for the next one you write, - it has to be nominated within a week after creation or substantial expansion. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:01, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will. I have a new article up on William R. Watson, just finished.Joan arden murray (talk) 12:04, 10 September 2020 (UTC)@Gerda Arendt:
- Great. I looked briefly, and as if you didn't get enough rulez, some more:
- The lead is a summary, no reference is needed there unless it's something not covered later, or a quote. I moved the ref to his birthplace. Please check.
- Try to have references in ascending order.
- A recommendation: avoid one-sentence paragraphs.
- I'll take a closer look after nominating another one in my pipeline, - see my user page. Should we use what he is known for as a "hook", or do you see something especially "hooky". If so, let me know, and have a reference right after the fact. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:47, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- One more recommendation, to avoid a confusing edit history: you could do one of two things, work in a general sandbox and then copy/paste to article space (which is good if you are the only editor and don't need to know later when exactly you changed what), or begin in a dedicated draft article, which can be deleted after you moved to article space. Moving twice is needlessly complicated for others to understand. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:51, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- All good advice. Will do and thanks. I will watch for a hook! Know what you mean.Joan arden murray (talk) 12:57, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- Nominated. It would be good to use independent sources more than his autobiography. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:06, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

DYK for William R. Watson
On 24 September 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article William R. Watson, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that when William R. Watson retired from his gallery for contemporary art in Montreal, one of his artists wrote: "You have known, and been a good friend to nearly all the artists"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/William R. Watson. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, William R. Watson), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

DYK for Canadian exhibition at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition
Gerda Arendt: Could you consider https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_exhibition_at_the_Louisiana_Purchase_Exposition for a DYK? I don`t feel confident that I could fill out the DYK template yet. The Art Gallery of Ontario has just opened an exhibition of the portrait miniatures by Mary E. Wrinch and she showed this work in the Canadian exhibition at the Lousiana Purchase Exposition in 1904. Missing cite in Dorothy Cameron Bloore
The article cites "catalogue 1993" but no such source is listed in bibliography. Can you please add? Also, suggest installing a script to highlight such errors in the future. All you need to do is copy and paste importScript('User:Svick/HarvErrors.js'); // Backlink: [[User:Svick/HarvErrors.js]]

Quick lint errors
When you created a bunch of infoboxes for canadian artists last month (btw, thanks!), the infobox template you copied always missed "| awards =" and instead just had "| awards", which created a lot of invalid parameters. I'm trying to fix the invalid parameters, and although it is minor, make sure to double-check that your copy-paste template has all the base parameters correct. Thanks again for doing the task though! :) Sennecaster (What now?) 15:52, 16 April 2021 (UTC) Yes, I will. Managing a conflict of interest
Hello, Joan arden murray. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Joan Murray (art historian), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Kj cheetham (talk) 12:50, 18 July 2021 (UTC)
- I'm sure you're aware of all of this though in practice, as I did note you're declared this on your user page. I just wanted to ensure you're aware of the relavent policies, etc. Thank you again for your contrubutions! -Kj cheetham (talk) 12:52, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Margaret Ann Ireland
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Margaret Ann Ireland requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/margaret-ann-ireland-emc. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - (edit conflict)Joan arden murray, instead of deleting this I've sent it to the copyright problems board for investigation – it seems to me that a few sentences (no more) might be free of copyvio. I find it quite concerning to see a capable editor with 18000 edits copy-pasting content directly from the (non-free) sources – that's something we ordinarily expect of new or incompetent users. Which brings us to the important question: do you think there may be other articles where you have done the same? If so, please list them here, in this section of this page, so that they can be cleaned up or deleted as appropriate. Thank you, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:56, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
- My field is Canadian art and within that area, I know many references and do not need to quote from non-free sources ever. I should have stuck to my specialty. Perhaps there is a music editor who could improve on this article. I would be glad if this is the case.Joan arden murray (talk) 18:23, 19 February 2022 (UTC)

Rita Letendre
- Thanks for the Xmas wishes! Just getting to this in February - lol. The list looks pretty good and includes all of the major catalogs I have on hand - I have a bunch of the Gevik catalogs, but they tend to be small so not sure if you want to consider them "major". There was one pretty nice catalog from Simon Blais - here is the reference in case you want to dig it up: ASSELIN, Hedwidge, Rita Letendre : Les éléments/The Elements, Montréal, Éditions Simon Blais, 2001, 64 pp. which is probably worth including in the major catalog list. The Palm Springs Desert Museum had a nice little catalog that I wouldn't consider "major" either but has a nice forward by Gilles Henault and four or five critical reviews of her work - we could pop that one up a level in my estimation. I will edit the page to include these in that first list but feel free to edit as you see fit :) I found one more catalog in my library that is likely of interest - the show catalog was small but it was a public show called "Le feu et L'Esprit" (translates to 'fire and spirit') at the Musee d'art Contemparion de Baie St-Paul (formerly Centre d'exposition de Baie-Saint-Paul) I will add that to the "other" list - cheers! Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Missvain (talk) 00:37, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

Hello, Joan arden murray
Thank you for creating Henri Masson (artist).
User:Netherzone, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:
Thank you for creating this article. It can be improved by adding more inline citations. He is notable, as he is in Benezit, but I think the article needs more verification of important collections where his work is held. Mostly what I can find are auction sites, but they do not contribute to notability.
