Mr. Jones
I've just watched the film Mr Jones, which follows the Gareth Jones Wikipedia article quite closely, with one notable exception. Was there a connection between Jones and George Orwell? -- 2603:6081:1C00:1187:49B4:94C7:A931:F855 (talk) 19:46, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
- Sort of found an answer myself: According to his family, Jones and Orwell never met.[1] --2603:6081:1C00:1187:49B4:94C7:A931:F855 (talk) 20:59, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
Is Nickelback more hated than liked by fans?
Is Nickelback a band where people love to hate them just for fun? 2001:569:7D9A:1300:E49F:214C:6086:C4ED (talk) 21:23, 31 July 2022 (UTC)
- They're probably whimpering all the way to the bank! ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 01:27, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- By definition, no. See Fan (person). Shantavira|feed me 05:51, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- From what I've read, it isn't the music. Nickelback music is very basic rock. For example, Rockstar goes through the chords G-C-F-G over and over. I can give you thousands of popular songs that go through that same chord progression because it sounds deep and nostalgic. The narrative is that the studio tried to make the band out to be the best in the world. So, there was backlash. Over time, it became another "Fake Moon Landing" or "Flat Earth" or "Birds Are Fake" thing. The people who claim to support it are doing so just to be a jerk. "Nickelback isn't real. They are used by the government to spy on us so we don't find the fake Moon landing set three floors down below the flat surface of the Earth. Hahahaha!" 97.82.165.112 (talk) 12:31, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- Nickelback fits in the Post-grunge genre, and that article contains reasons why there was a backlash against the genre. --Jayron32 12:47, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

Suzi Yoonessi
I'm confused about Suzi Yoonessi. On the Internet, one source said she is single and without children. Another source said she is a wife and mother. Which one is right?2603:7000:8100:F444:78D0:5D2E:4FCD:D5D5 (talk) 10:39, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

- Except for the Huff Post article, I wouldn't consider any of the other reliable sources. You can ignore anything they say. --Jayron32 12:37, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- (ec) The first three are what I would call bullshit websites - these sites presumably generate their content by automatically grazing the internet without any intelligent being even looking at the data before they're published. The Huffpost link is dated February 2014 and implies that she married Spencer Crossland in January 2014. I don't see any reason not to believe that. The last link is dated October 2018 (interview date), and she mentions husband and kids. Enough time between 2014 and 2018 to spawn a couple of children. My conclusion would be: she has children and in 2018 she had a husband. You'll need to find newer data to tell whether she is still married in 2022. --Wrongfilter (talk) 12:39, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

Mafia in popular culture
Other than The Godfather, what other depictions of the Italian mafia are there in popular culture (especially in movies and video games)? 2601:646:8A81:6070:69DC:92A7:83:6D1 (talk) 12:57, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

- How about The Godfather II and The Godfather III? They might have some references to the Italian Mafia. 97.82.165.112 (talk) 13:02, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- The Godfather Part 2 definitely does... In the flashback scenes of Vito Andolini (Corleone) and his childhood in Sicily, and his later return, it features the Sicilian Mafia. --Jayron32 18:01, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

- If you'll accept Italian-American Mafia, there's Empire of Sin (video game), and some others in Category:Organized crime video games. Card Zero (talk) 14:42, 1 August 2022 (UTC)
- I am staggered that we don't have a standalone article - the closest we have is a section at American_Mafia#In_popular_culture. That is obviously only a tiny sliver of the content that there should be. Hell, we have an article on Russian mafia in popular culture and one for the Italian-American mob would likely dwarf that handily. Matt Deres (talk) 19:32, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- The "article" on Russian mafia in pop culture is merely a haphazard list of works in popular culture in which some reference is made to Russian organized crime. It started as an "In popular culture" section in the Russian mafia article, a fairly typical trivia section, but was split off to a separate list article. --Lambiam 15:42, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

McQuarrie relationship?
- I did a cursory google search, but couldn't turn up anything. Is there any relationship between Academy-Award-winning writer and director Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Mission Impossible films) and Academy-Award-winning designer Ralph McQuarrie (Lucas/Spielberg films)? --Jayron32 18:23, 2 August 2022 (UTC)
- According to this, Christopher McQuarrie has "no relation to award-winning illustrator" [Ralph McQuarrie]. 2603:6081:1C00:1187:49B4:94C7:A931:F855 (talk) 18:36, 2 August 2022 (UTC)

Music from opera?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFXguE_FXao
From which opera does the music come from starting at 0:10? 5.168.1.240 (talk) 13:55, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- Someone is incessantly and loudly talking through the music, making it hard to hear anything else, but what I hear does not sound particularly operatic. Could it be from a symphony? The style is romantic. --Lambiam 14:46, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- My phone's song identification utility (most Android phones will find a song if you pish the little microphone button and select "search a song") identifies it as "True Love - Ashley Returns to Tara from The War - Tara in Ruins" from the Gone With The Wind score by Max Steiner. It seems pretty close. --Jayron32 15:40, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- The same question was asked three years ago, see Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Archives/Entertainment/2019_August_22#Background_music,
and I'm still sticking to the answer I gave then: I think it's actually the film score you can hear toward the end of Visconti's Bellissima, a film in which young Corrado Mantoni actually played a minor part (the radio announcer). Franco Mannino who composed the score drew from the opera L'elisir d'amore by Donizetti.---Sluzzelin talk 17:15, 5 August 2022 (UTC)- And both IP's link to Italy. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 17:30, 5 August 2022 (UTC)

- Sorry, scratch my answer. I don't know what I heard three years ago, but Jayron's device had it right. The part one can hear in your link starts approximately at 2min 32s of "True Love - Ashley Returns to Tara from the War - Tara in Ruins" from Steiner's film score of GWTW. (Won't link to YT for copyright reasons, but this is the album). ---Sluzzelin talk 19:56, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Sluzzelin: I believe that copyright is broken by YouTube, not by Wikipedia. Link to something is not against the law. I have listened and I found it different than the video I posted originally... --5.168.1.240 (talk) 21:36, 5 August 2022 (UTC)
