This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Wbenton (talk | contribs) at 13:59, 19 August 2022 (Thanks for you comments on my Draft:Opening of Japanese railway: new section). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

  • Note: I like to keep my talk page short and neat, for ease of navigation. If you came here looking for an earlier message/thread and can't find it, check out the archives to the right of this message.
  • Another note: If you're here to ask me to look at a draft or article, I would much appreciate if you could please link to the piece in question, so I don't have to go hunting for it. Ta.
  • And one more for good measure: If I declined your draft at AfC, and you came to ask me to review it again, please don't (unless I expressly said you could). I feel it's fairer to the other drafts awaiting review that yours goes back to the pool. (That said, if I happen to come across your draft again, I also won't make a point of ignoring it, I will probably re-review it.

I saw you accused me of sockpupet on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Stevence SA I know you have your reasons to do that, all I wanted to say is I'm nowhere connected to the subject my only reason for creating Draft:Uncle Waffles was because she is a well known South African musician so I felt she deserves an article that's why I removed it, I came here to request you to remove your accusations because this is tarnishing my name in Wikipedia --Emkay2004 (talk) 17:21, 4 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

About Arrighi's research

Hi DoubleGrazing. I wanted to clarify that Pierre Arrighi's research is based on verifiable, and official FIFA documents. I just cited "Arrighi", because it was easier for me than going into his bibliography and searching for every original sources that he cited. But, if you do prefer, would it help if I replaced many of the Pierre Arrighi citations with the original sources that he was referencing? (IE: Documents, newspapers, FIFA congress minutes, other books, etc)

Please let me know how I can vary the citations to make the article work.

Thanks. FutbolLeyenda (talk) 18:50, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Alik Abrahamyan (11:15, 26 July 2022)

Hello! Nice to meet you here! I want to write an article here on Wikipedia about my startup company, EasyDMARC, which is the leading in the cybersecurity sphere. From where to start? Can you help me? --Alik Abrahamyan (talk) 11:15, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Alik Abrahamyan,
I would very strongly advise against it. It can be very difficult to get any article accepted, and even more so when you're writing about something you have an external relationship with, such as your business. The slightest hint of promotional content or tone, and the draft won't even be reviewed, it will most likely just get speedily deleted.
You then have to make sure that you don't write whatever it is that you yourself want to say about your business, but rather summarise what independent and reliable secondary sources have said — see WP:GNG for advice on what sort of coverage we need to see. This may seem like an impossible hurdle, especially as you say your business is only a startup, but without citing sources that are good enough to meet the GNG criteria, your article simply will not be accepted.
If, despite all that, you still want to go ahead, the very first thing you need to do is to disclose your conflict of interest. I note that another editor has already placed a message on your talk page with instructions for how to do this. Please follow those instructions exactly.
Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 11:29, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks for the quick and detailed answer! No, it's not startup yet, it is already a strong company with 25 million valuation, with 2,3 million investment. So I'm looking someone to write about the company. Alik Abrahamyan (talk) 12:01, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I was only quoting back at you what you said yourself ("about my startup company, EasyDMARC"). Obviously the longer the business has been around and the more established it is, the more likely it is to have been covered by news sources and similar. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:04, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks a lot! Alik Abrahamyan (talk) 12:23, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

KPC and KUC

Are 2 different churches since 2014. The original one was Kiribati Protestant Church founded in 1968 during colonial period. Then, in 2014, the Congregationalists tried to be joined by other Protestants and after a double meeting in Arorae (my user name) changed their name in a new Kiribati Uniting Church but as soon as the meeting finished, one third of the new KUC returned to be KPC as before. Now you have 20,000 people in the KUC and 10,000 in the old KPC and they do not want to speak together. So 2 articles are useful but the story is the same and it looks as a Copyright issue for the bot, Sorry for that (there is no copyright infringement as far as I know). thanks and yours Arorae (talk) 15:41, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Arorae: oh okay, thanks for explaining. With that, I'll go and take another look at the KPC article. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:45, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

NPP drive award

The Reviewer Barnstar
This award is given to DoubleGrazing for 65 reviews and 7 re-reviews in the July NPP backlog reduction drive. Your contributions played a part in the 9895 reviews that took place during the drive. Thank you for your contributions. Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 08:51, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Article was moved backk, and two "nothing saying"' links were added. So, what did you won from this ? Nothing, but proved to be of superior intelligency. What did you learn from it: also nothing (helpless). Hey, have a nice time spoiling articles ! Hey Amparihy-Bejofo is another article, that doesn't have any references !!! This must be removed immediately, you know why... Come on, do your job, please ! Regards I'm so tired (talk) 12:55, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Verna Myers submission

Hi. You were the last to review my submission for Vernā Myers (on 4/05/22) and declined so I thought it might be helpful for me to follow up with you. This article has been declined a handful of times with suggestions on how to revise. However, I wanted to ask if you though that this article (in its current content state with its current list of sources) is something that would ever be approved based on notoriety? I wanted to better understand this before spending more time on revisions. Your insight would be extremely helpful. Mmt21pf (talk) 22:02, 4 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022

New Page Review queue August 2022

Hello DoubleGrazing,

Backlog status

After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.

Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.

Coordination
MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
Open letter to the WMF
The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
TIP - Reviewing by subject
Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
New reviewers
The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
Reminders
  • Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
  • If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.
  • If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
  • To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

About Jorekhali Senior Fazil Digree Madrasah

hi, how can improve my article . i can see refrence link already dead whwn i translated from existing bn page. NahidShihab (talk) 12:50, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @NahidShihab: are you talking about Draft:Jorekhali Senior Fazil Digree Madrasah? I haven't had anything to do with it, other than moving it from your user space to the draft space, which is the preferred location for AfC drafts. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:19, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Article "Frisian Cuisine"

Hi, You mentioned on my talk page that I could tell you once I would be done with fixing the article Frisian cuisine. I have checked the phrases that were indeed very similar to the source, because I straightforward used the ingredients listed in the exact same way. There should be no more issues concerning that, and I fixed the sections as well. There is no more bold text in the article anymore, except for the first sentence. I hope the article is OK now, and it wouldn't matter too much if it takes a while. I just wrote because you said I could.

Request on 18:05:26, 8 August 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Reesorville

Yesterday, I submitted a draft article for review 'anti-abortion by country' and it was declined on the basis that an article for this topic already existed on main space. I think there is a misunderstanding here, which I need to explain, as it is not so obvious why this reason for decline isn't correct and it is easy to understand why a person would assume that this article is a duplicate, when in fact it is not.

The article in main space is Anti-abortion movements. I already attempted to include some of the content of the article I was drafting in that article, however, I could not do so, because there was a consensus on the page that only material that RS describes as a 'movement' can be included on the page. Therefore, that article does not actually encompass all anti-abortion activity in general (ie. state policies, social attitudes, etc.), but specifically only things where you have protestors, demonstrations for change, etc., which are described as 'movements'. According to this consensus on that page, there is no page in main space that encompasses 'anti-abortion' in general. Therefore, this article I submitted for review is not a duplicate of it.

Is there something I can do to appeal the decision and put this explanation in front of the reviewer so there isn't any confusion? Thanks for any help, you can provide. Reesorville (talk) 18:05, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reesorville (talk) 18:05, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Reesorville,
I can move this from your sandbox into the draft space, if you tell me what title you would want for it (I don't think 'anti-abortion by country' quite works; I feel like it needs a noun in the middle, like 'sentiment' or similar).
You're then welcome to re-submit it, and I promise not to review it again myself. I cannot, of course, promise that the next reviewer will treat it any more favourably than I did.
I can also add a review comment to the draft, pointing to this discussion, so the next reviewer will better understand what has been done, and why.
Would that help? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:21, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help. The title is not so important to me, if you think it needs to change, then maybe just put it as 'anti-abortion' to mark it as an article on the general topic. I thinks this misunderstanding is really easy to make, but I don't know how to make it clear to the reviewer when submitting the draft -if you think adding the comment will work, then that's fine for me. Reesorville (talk) 18:28, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Reesorville Okay, I've done that. Good luck with the next review. Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 18:36, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Draft Tilwasni

This is a village and this is no requirement for reference. MahendraPrajapatKhejarla (talk) 17:40, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@MahendraPrajapatKhejarla: sorry, but that's not the case. You have to cite a source that verifies the information — at the very least, that the village exists. And then you have to either show that it can be considered inherently notable per WP:GEOLAND, or if not, that it satisfies the WP:GNG general notability standard. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:48, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can i give you google map link MahendraPrajapatKhejarla (talk) 17:49, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You can certainly include mapping coordinates with the draft, but that in itself doesn't prove anything. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:51, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ok i will give Google map reference if you approve MahendraPrajapatKhejarla (talk) 07:30, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You moved an article from Maladkal to Draft:Maladkal. The author has now made a copy in article space. Please take a look at the copy in article space and decide whether it is better than the copy that you sent back to draft space. I think that the version in article space should either be marked as reviewed, or it should be nominated for deletion. Does the addition of more sources address your concern?
