The World Needs… Heroes

HEROES is one of the later comic book series Titles by Milestone Comics (an independently-owned imprint published by DC Comics).

In the events in the Shadow Cabinet, when Donner/Gerri Brauer, Blitzen/Valerie Kameya and Iota/Isadora Wellington-Smythe left the Shadowspire and the Shadow Cabinet after Dharma atempts to take over the world, attack his own sister(s) Plus - seperating Narnie from Bina - giving himself the powers of Plus and tries to force all of his Shadow Cabinet subordinates to remain trapped in the Shadowspire except to go on the missions he sends them on.

Issue 1: Donner/Gerri Brauer, Blitzen/Valerie Kameya and Iota/Isadora Wellington-Smythe escape and calling themselves the HEROES the put their super-human talents to good use; first they race against precious time to help after a dam break that threatens to destroy a nearby town, their heroics are covered by the Media, and later they meet Static, Starlight and Payback at Donner & Blitzen's apartment in Dakota City and inlist their help.

Issue 2: Then all six of the new HEROES have to fight with Iron Butterfly and her team, who are under orders from Dharma come to capture Donner, Blitzen, Iota (and Starlight?) and take tham back to the Shadowspire. confronted by the new Shadow Cabinet: Slag, Windshear, Iron Butterfly, Bad Betty, Twilight and Ramjet, the new HEROES defend themselves and the fight blows Donner and Blitzen's apartment to pieces, the HEROES hold together , but the skirmish places innocent bystanders in danger. The two teams begin to help people and the fighting stops and Iron Butterfly decides to call off the attack.

Issue 3: Since the confrontition with Iron Butterfly and Dharma's new Shadow Cabinet trashed Donner and Blitzen's apartment to shambles, the HEROES start searching for their first headquarters, they try Chicago, Paris, Los Angeles, Mount Rushmore and Washington, D.C. When the HEROES arrive at the Chrysler Building in New York City, within the span of a few hours Blitzen stops a mugging, Static and Starlight catch a runaway F-4, Donner and Iota catch some racial terrorists, and Payback and Donner prevent a subway crash. After that the Heroes decide to stay in New York City.

Issue 4: The HEROES are moving into their new headquarters at the Chryseler Building in New York. We learn that Static and Starlight are both fledgling scientists, and Blitzen and Static experiment with Blitzen's speed. Later at a press conference Blitzen is declared leader of the HEROES, and the HEROES set up their own 1-800 number. The origin of Iota is revealed as we learn the secrets of the Inniverse, and that there is a possibility that Iota's husband is alive, so the HEROES go to the Inniverse.

Issue 5: The HEROES arrive in the Inniverse. A reporter called Jackson Kwong is promoted to being the network correspondent in New York, where he immediately tries to do an expose on the HEROES while they are away. Bina Chawney is reintroduced as she grieves over the loss of her sister Narnie, but decides to help her ex-teammates against the media criticism they are receiving, as she is still able to move dispite no longer being bonded to Narnie. The HEROES battle the creatures of the Inniverse, but they end up realizing that Iota/Isadora is considered the queen of the Inniverse. Her husband, Alfred, is the King of the Inniverse. Everyone seems happy until the King reveals to Isadora that he want to conquer both of the Inniverse and the Dakota universe. Bina then arrives at the HEROES headquarters.

Issue 6: Iota and Albert send the HEROES home, but this opens a gateway and Albert sends his army of Inner-Men to attack the New York City. Plus confronts Jackson Kwong about his reporting when the HEROES crash land in New York. Plus reunites with the HEROES as the Inner Men begin to appear. The HEROES battle the Inner-Men in a fierce battle. Jackson Kwong is catching the whole battle on film. Iota betrays Albert (Inner King) and returns to New York. Iota helps the HEROES save the city by tricking the Inner-Men into returning to the Inniverse. After saving the world the group is now publicly accepted.
