Is there not a better image that can be used in the lead? Per the Image use policy I don't think a fan's painting is suitable. Samwalton9 (talk) 20:19, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
- Done — The current photo looks great, even the beard, reflecting his TV persona and his service in Vietnam! — Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 12:13, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- Agreed! Keep the picture. "Million-dollar smile" -- Narnia.Gate7 (talk) 14:03, 14 March 2015 (UTC)
Si in the army
It is mentioned on the article that Si patched someone's arm up only to be eaten by a tiger... is this true?
- I highly doubt it. It was one of his "Stories" mentioned on one of the TV shows. He has also claimed to have seen a man's house ransacked by a wolverine...it doesn't mean it is true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Otto1943 (talk • contribs) 00:10, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- USMC Recon had at least one man killed by a tiger (SGT Robert C. Phleger, May 7, 1970) and a couple more wounded, but since Si was Army it is VERY unlikely to be the same guy. Now the Army's 1/50th Infantry had a couple tiger attacks and killed one with a Claymore mine, but they didn't have anyone eaten. Does anyone have any more reliably sourced info on the details of his military career?WiseguyThreeOne (talk) 17:56, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
- If you watch the show, you quickly learn that his comments are directed towards comic relief. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 12:15, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
- Si's story was that he SAW a guy get his arm blown off and sown up, and then get dragged off by a tiger. Could be true, could just be a crazy story. But my point is, he didn't claim he was actually involved. 206.71.192.69 (talk) 00:05, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

With regard to his son doing 8 tours in Iraq, the tours these days are about 7 or 8 months, aren't they? It isn't like the 13 months we used to do, and these days the kids have email and Skype and sat phones so they can remain in touch with folks back home. I once went 2 years and 8 months overseas with only one long-distance phone call home, so in that case you really did lose touch with domestic America. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.152.216.213 (talk) 21:30, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
