Sendhoorapandi is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language action romance film directed by S. A. Chandrasekhar. The film stars Vijayakanth, Gouthami, Vijay and Yuvarani. The film released on 24 December 1993 and performed well commercially.[1]

Plot

Vijay (Vijay) falls in love with Meena (Yuvarani). But Meena's brother (Ponnambalam) opposes their marriage due to rivalry between both the families. Sendhoorapandi (Vijayakanth) returns from jail and tries to help his brother to win his love.

Cast

Production

After Vijay's debut film as a lead actor Naalaiya Theerpu (1992) failed at the box-office, Chandrasekhar decided to cast an established actor alongside Vijay for his next film; Vijayakanth agreed to do the film for free.[2]

Soundtrack

The soundtrack was composed by Deva, with lyrics written by Vaali and P. R. C. Balu.[3] For the dubbed Telugu version Bobbili Rayudu,[4] all lyrics were written by Rajashri.[5]

Reception

Malini Mannath of The Indian Express wrote it "turns out to be fairly engaging film".[6] K. Vijiyin of New Straits Times wrote, "It is amazing Chandrasegaran went into production without a proper story. Rajarajan's cinematography is the saving grace in this movie which seems to have nothing new to say".[7] Ananda Vikatan gave the film a score of 30 out of 100.[8]
