Talk:The Elder Scrolls: Arena
Arena being ahead of its time
"Like its sequels, it takes place in the continent of Tamriel, complete with wilderness, dungeons, a spell creation system that allows players to mix various spell effects into a new spell as long as they have the money to pay for it, and numerous other game features that were ahead of its time."
Any more examples that could be added to the article? Thanks. :) JonasRH 18:58, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- The comprehensive skill list would likely qualify. Also, the integrated Day/Night cycle system - that hadn't been around in many games back in 1994. -- D-Katana 21:15, 01 May 2006 (UTC)
Dagoth Ur's Appearance
In the Dagoth Ur article, it mentions that the player in the 1st game meets with and is seemingly helped by him. Does enyone know exactly what this refers to?
Wait for daytime!
This took me a really long time to figure out, maybe cuz I'm stupid. But when I downloaded Arena and played it, I found the starting dungeon to be reasonably easy. However, when I left the dungeon, I was in a town and a tough mob would attack me every few paces. There was nobody to talk to and none of the doors would open either. I could pick some doors but then someone inside would be waiting to kill me, or I'd fail and guards would kill me. Exiting the town to the wilderness was unproductive since there's nothing out there except more dungeons. Well, hours later, having died and reloaded many times, and wandering around the wilderness I eventually camped until daytime happened to come around (I didn't even know there was a day/night cycle). Then found the gate back into town and discovered citizens walking around! Oh the joy. So as it turns out, towns are only productive during the day. If you are new to the game, and are unfortunate enough to exit the starter dungeon at night, what you should do is run around the town until you find a sign with an ale mug. That is the sign of an Inn, where you can safely sleep until daybreak. This is definitely a detail that could have been included in the hints! Cyaugin 01:44, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
