History
Prior to the August 2022 Kenyan General Elections, that was won by William Ruto (then the Deputy President of Kenya). A post election coaltion agreement between Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula, under the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, was signed that entailed establishing the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (similar to that of an executive Prime Minister) via a Presidental Executive order within fourteen (14) days after the presidential inauguration.
On September 27 2022, President William Ruto signed a Presidential executive order (Executive Order No. 1 2022) establishing the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary of the Republic of Kenya, and nominated Musalia Mudavadi to the position.[2] During President Ruto's live address to the nation, he stated that the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) is the most senior office in the executive arm of the government after that of the President and Deputy President.[3] Mudavadi was officially sworn in as PCS at State House, Kenya on October 20, 2022.[4]
