The series was announced in 2019 by Star Bharat,[8] an official television adaptation of the 1993 Hindi film Darr.[9] The promos were released in December 2018. Ram Yashvardhan was cast in the titular role, and was joined by Manul Chudasama and Sheezan Mohd as leads.[10][6][7] Due to creative differences Manul Chudasama[11] was replaced overnight with Srishti Jain.[12] Nattasha Singh was cast to portray the negative lead.[13] Mahek Chahal[14] had a cameo appearance in the show, but later replaced with Sara Khan.[15] It premeried on Star Bharat from 21 January 2019[2] and went off-air within 9 months on 21 September 2019, due to low viewership.[3]
