The most basic thing to spot in checking new pages is copyright. I see you catch many of them, but you missed this one See my note of the talk page of the above article. DGG ( talk ) 20:40, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

@DGG: When I run AWB I only do "clenups" such as tagging, typo fixing etc. I do not look at the article itself, and neither do I patrol them (I do not think). (tJosve05a (c) 20:45, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
but you also have been appropriately nominating for copyvio deletion--how do you do that? I'm puzzled, DGG ( talk ) 20:47, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
@DGG: I work within a lot of fields on WIkipedia.
Ah, I see. Basically, you make multiple passes with different purposes. Myself, I try to look for everything obvious at once, but only deal with the minor issues when I'm seriously reworking an article or something hits my eye. Many different ways are good--they complement each other. Incidentally, for any sort of an organization, and often for people connected with organizations, in addition to the tools, if it looks suspicious in terms of style, I check the organization's website for relevant internal pages. Earwig's does some of this now, but not all. And I find Huggle better than the curation toolbar for most purposes. I'm just exchanging notes. DGG ( talk ) 22:24, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
@DGG: If you have Huggle 3.x.x+ check on the "About..."-page for a special name (tJosve05a (c) 22:26, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello -

Recently you rejected my article on Deep Ocean Minerals https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Draft:Deep_Ocean_Minerals&action=edit&redlink=1 and I sent you a message about this (no response yet. I then got talking in the editors chat room and during this chat was advised the article was not deleted as such (see link above). I explained that I had been given permission to use a word document as the basis of the article - and some of this word document was used in a printed online article. So there was some confusion on my part. He explained that a form needed to be filled out by the author of the article which has been done (see below). However I now come back to the link that was provided and found that others have now deleted the whole thing. Can you please advise of next steps give the copyright permission from the person who provided me with the key information:

I hereby affirm that I, Anthony Philip JACOBS, am the creator and hold the original Word Documents of the exclusive copyright of http://www.harnisch.com/uploads/tx_harnisch/wfe_0314minerals_and_trace_elements.pdf I have provided the Wikipedia Author, Thaiso, permission to use this material for a Wikipedia article on Deep Ocean Minerals. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks Sharon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thaiso (talkcontribs) 03:24, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

@Thaiso: You, or if possible, the author has to send that to permissions-en@wikimedia.org for archival and confirmation. This can not be done over talk pages, for various reasons. Thank you for your understanding. (tJosve05a (c) 14:41, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
@Josve05a
Thanks for your reply to my message below advising to email with the Copyright permission. I have done this but have heard nothging back - can you advise how long it takes to get a response? I don't want to hassle anyone but just would be good to have a time frame. Much appreciated. Sharon
@Thaiso: It depends on how long the backlogs currently are. I, myself, do not have access to these services and can not check it, but it usually ranges from one to three weeks (if unlucky). (tJosve05a (c) 06:17, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I have been writing to you for quite a long and you are not replying back and just deleting the message.. You have told me that my page 'Call Center Pros' violates copyright issue. You told that this site http://www.donehealth.com/new-best-call-center-pros.html has the same content but this content was originally written by me for wikipedia and had submitted here only. I have no clue how this site crawled my content from wikipedia and this site seems fake. Can you please reconsider my case not wasting any more time! Hello, I just received a notice stating that the Wikipedia article that I submitted was rejected due to copyright. It cites the source as http://www.kristenjensen.om/about/. In fact, much of the information included is from that source as I am the person who wrote both the article and the about page for kristen jensen on her web page. I am her webmaster, drained the page, and wrote the copy information. How do I get this cleared up?

Dear editor (t) Josve05a (c) ,

It goes about Articles for creation: Tigran Maytesian. I have got your notification at my User’s Page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:95.67.102.245#Your_submission_at_Articles_for_creation:_Tigran_Maytesian_.28February_20.29) that my submission not been accepted because it included copyrighted information, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. Actually, it seems to be either some awful mistake of yours or some strange personal attack from your side on my volunteer contribution.

First, there is no copyright violation from my side as there has been received a permission from the copyright holder to release this material under both the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license and the GNU Free Documentation License. Both licenses may be used. Evidence of this has been confirmed and stored by OTRS volunteers, under ticket number 2015020610023567. I have permission to use copyrighted work (information from http://www.tigranmaytesian.com) as it goes in the Draft talk: This template is used by approved volunteers dealing with the Wikimedia Open Ticket Request System (OTRS) after receipt of a clear statement of permission at permissions-en wikimedia.org. ) (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft_talk:Tigran_Maytesian)

Second, you claim that my article submission to Articles for Creation (i.e. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Tigran_Maytesian) has been reviewed and has not been accepted. If so, please explain me why the Draft:Tigran_Maytesian is still among the submissions currently (i.e. on February 20, 2015) waiting for review as a Pending AfC submission (see http://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Category:Pending_AfC_submissions&pagefrom=P201502100944%0AA.+Testoni+S.p.A.#mw-pages)???? How should I understand your statement then???

Moreover, the AFC notification at the bottom of my article submission says that "If the submission is declined, then the reason will be posted here" (that means at the Draft:Tigran_Maytesian page but not on my User’s page!!!). The Wikipedia AFC notification further goes “Please check back here (at the Draft:Tigran_Maytesian page!!!) later to see the outcome of your request.” Tell me, please, how shall I understand this ambiguity, discrepancy between the Wikipedia notification and your statement???

To avoid further misunderstanding, please be aware that as a contributor to this article I am a volunteer with no financial interest or personal relation to the subject of the article, i.e. to Mr. Tigran Maytesian. I have never declared a personal or professional connection to the subject of this article. I have placed there reliably sourced information with the neutral point of view. Any accusations of the conflict of interest, autobiography or as you stated, copyright violation, with regard to my volunteer contribution are groundless and unfair. Should you need any proof of my volunteer, fully free and unbiased contribution and of my entitlement to use this copyrighted information, please, tell me what evidence I need to provide you to prevent such groundless accusations.

I would like to thank you in advance for your clarification and hope that you will settle this issue in an honest and positive way so that you will let my draft of the article be reviewed for acceptance without any prejudice and obstruction.

Best wishes, 95.67.102.245 (talk) 21:33, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello. The brief content I used for Il Giardino dei Semplici (band) was partly taken from a page which I WROTE months ago. It's a page from a FANsite about Il Volo. I created that very page, so I can use the content. Ask the webmaster. Anyway, I re-opened the article and just changed the content a lot in order to make it finally accepted. Technically speaking, I did not violate any copyright, I can sure you. I work for the band, among the other things. Please, accept the article, I'm working hard on it and will revise/polish it within days/weeks. I'm not English. Just give me time. Thank you so much.

Hi,

I am a bit confused & lost. I don't want a re-review – I understand, and agree with, the need to respect copyright.

What I am looking for is an indication of which bits of the article are thought to violate copyright so that I can re-write them befor ere-submitting.

Thanks

Please can read the rules of use for AWB? It's clear you don't understand them. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 19:19, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

@Lugnuts: It would be good in future encounters if you would list the "problems" you're refering to since some people have disabled Echo-notifications (I haven't). I saw the articles no and it's a clear case that it was AWB that was malfunctuning. I know that can't be an excuse I am held resonsible. But really, there were no reall harm. (Except for the attack with the wording "abuse"). I will install the latest revision of AWB and see if this bug has been fixed, otherwise I will ping Magioladitis to notify im of this bug. First of all, I want to say it is very much appreciated that you check for copyright violations – very few users do even though it is very important. However, I did want to remind you that if only a portion of page is a copyvio (such as was the case at Draft:Hild (novel)) then it isn't eligible for speedy deletion. By all means, decline the draft if it contains any copyrighted text and/or remove it yourself if you have the time. If the violation is too complex to fix quickly, but there appears to be non-copyrighted text in the article, then it can be listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. Thanks! --ThaddeusB (talk) 21:39, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank. I have started using {{copyvio}} more and more. (tJosve05a (c) 17:47, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello Josve05a

Thank you for your message. As you will have appreciated this is my first time seeking to add some editing. In one sense I was not surprised by your rejection, because I was afraid that my personal comments might possibly breach the guidelines. However, you reference ‘original research’, and this does puzzle me. There has been a campaign by many expat British Pensioners living throughout the European Union, since a Judgment by the European Court of Justice in July 2011, opened up the possibility of more expats being able to claim an old-age benefit called Winter Fuel Payment. It is only £200 per annum, but the UK Government has decided to pursue a policy to remove this benefit in countries they have determined are ‘hot’! Over more than two years now there have been a number of reports and articles in National UK newspapers, which have given rise to much debate, blogs and comments, letter-writing, and questions in Parliament. The UK Government has published a number of documents which are relevant to the issue, and which again have given rise to much debate. I and several of my colleagues have put together a detailed Briefing Note, which is now available in version 9, and that does contain ‘original research’ since those who have contributed have gathered together items which may not have been linked or used before in the context in which they have been written. I wanted to add my piece to the profile of Iain Duncan Smith, under the section concerning his political career. After I read of the revelation of his false claim that he had studied at the University of Perugia which has been included by Wikipedia, and his ‘problems as leader’; I thought I was on safe ground to record what had been published in newspapers and compare that to facts and figures published by the UK Government. So, my first question would be – is it acceptable to remove all of my ‘comments’ in bold and underlined, following on from each section of ‘the claims’ and ‘the truth’? My second question quite simply is – please tell me if there is anything else? My third question concerns quotes I have included from letters in my possession. Do you need to have a link to a scan of those letters in PDF format, or simply a reference which identifies the letter and its date? My desire is to get this right, but at the same time, to ensure that there is the possibility to publish the claims and the truth associated with the two year campaign surrounding the Winter Fuel Payment.

RogerBo1940 (talk) 12:14, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

@RogerBo1940: I declined it because the draft read like an essay and not an encyclopedic article. When a sumbission starts with the header Is Iain Duncan Smith guilty of fraud? it is kind of obvious that it is an essay. Please rewrite it and please have a look at WP:REFBEGIN on how to format footnotes properly. Thanks. (tJosve05a (c) 17:53, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

It was not an orphan because it was linked to the articles via the navbox on creation. Also, as a breaking story, you ought to allow a bit of time for links to be created from other articles. Mjroots (talk) 06:00, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your review on my first attempt to create an article. I would like to tell you that I already tried to improve reference, and as such I would like to ask you for your opinion... User:C.150113001.H/sandbox

Thanks again, hope to hear from you soon C.150113001.H — Preceding unsigned comment added by C.150113001.H (talkcontribs) 22:12, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

@C.150113001.H: Hello. I've read your draft and I have to say that it read kind of like an ad. With wrods such as "The concept is a simple one" and "How it works". Please read Wikipedia:NOT on how to deal with this. Thanks. (tJosve05a (c) 17:59, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Flinching Eye Collective

I am writing to make sure I am going about correcting my issue with the article I submitted on the Flinching Eye Collective. I had gotten permission from them to quote their website but didn't know how to cite it properly. I have gone back and rewritten it with my own words. Is that the correct step to take and did I resubmit it properly?

Thank you,

Please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials on how to do if you'd like to include that material. Otherwise, rewrite it with your own words and resubmit it. Thanks. (tJosve05a (c) 18:00, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Ginny Good submission by Endpress

Thank you for responding so swiftly to my submission. Could you clarify whether a9 the subject matter itself or b9 the treatment of it, makes the article unsuitable for inclusion in Wikipedia'

Thank you again for your attention to this request for information Best wishes, EndpressEndpress (talk) 21:01, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

@Endpress: It's the "treatment of it". Articles needs to be written from an encyclopedic viewpoint and only inlude thinds which independend, reliable, third party sources has mentioned (See WP:42). These sources should bee footnoted to show what they support (see WP:REFBEGIN) and Wikipedia can't be used as a source.
If no independend, reliable, third party sources, such as newspapers etc. has discussed the subject in-depth, then it might just be too soon to include it in the encyclopedia.
Yours truly

Hi, thanks for the review. It's my first article so i didn't expect I'd get it right first time. I do find it rather odd that it would be flagged for copyright infringement of http://essmc.org.au/pat_mccumiskey_idf_m113_c+c.html when that webpage very clearly states that its source of reference is... Wikipedia. It is a straight copy & paste of Variants of the M113 armored personnel carrier (the Australia section). The paragraph within the wikipedia page about the M113A1 Medium Reconnaissance Vehicle is what I am trying to expand upon with my page, using additional information. I'm not quite sure what i do with the page now – do i just resubmit it? Cheers, Jp-8000 (talk) 10:56, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

I see two issues here. One being that you can't use Wikipedia as a source/reference. The other one being that you can't copy from other articles with out properly attributing it, please read Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. (tJosve05a (c) 18:02, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello again. I have added attribution in the edit summary as per the help article you listed above. Is there anything else that I still need to do? Thanks again, Jp-8000 (talk) 13:10, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Request on 04:19:37, 26 February 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Anturevon

Hi Assuming that you are a human. I wrote

"Nahar is an ngo that provides health and education services to low-income households in Kafrul, Dhaka. Nahar started its journey in 1996 as a social welfare organisation."

It was directly cited from their web site. Which is a public domain. The reason that I quoted directly because it gives the information without advertising about themselves.

http://naharsocial.biz/

Here is more information about it on the Bangladeshi NGO directory. http://ngodhaka.com/ngo_details.php?id=83

Anturevon (talk) 04:19, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

First of I see no evidence that that is under public domain, secondly if you just quote the official page it makes it read like an advertisment for obvious reasons.
• The fact that a business or organisation exists is not grounds for having an article.
• Whether your competitors have an article or not is completely irrelevant.
• Being a competent professional in your field is not the standard for having an article.

Articles generally require significant coverage

in reliable sources

that are independent of the topic.

Thank you for looking at our Wikipedia Page Geranium Homes, it's much appreciated – however I'm confused with your concern about copyright issue - "This submission appears to be taken from http://fridayharbourresort.com/lake-simcoe-condos-for-sale/press/article/1." Friday Harbour Resorts is a development with geranium homes, it's one of our holdings, and all the material was written by us. If you were to go to our homepage www.geraniumhomes.com – and you will see the icon for Friday Harbour. Here are the other press releases in the same area that you cited copyright – http://fridayharbourresort.com/media/press/HomesMag_June2013_Friday_Harbour.pdf and http://fridayharbourresort.com/media/press/TorontoStar_Sat_Aug.24_2013_Friday_Harbour.pdf as you can see we ARE Friday Harbour, this is our content. Even in the article you quoted, it has our name Geranium Corporation in the release. Please let me know what to do, this is approved wording and not sure why it's considered copyrighted material, when it is our material. I appreciate your feedback and thanks for your work. Let me know what else I can do to clarify this, and thanks,Lcamus (talk) 15:20, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello Josve05a,

I am new to Wikipedia and learning my way through by experiments and also by making mistakes. I'm glad that you reviewed my AfC a few days back, and declined it due to copyright infringement. It gave me a chance to learn about this set of Wikipedia guidelines. I took my time and rewrote and improved my AfC.

I would really appreciate if you could look into my AfC once more whenever convenient. Link to it: (Draft:Roots Millennium Schools)

Thanks much!

(talk page stalker) Hi! I have read over your article and agree with what the reiveiwing editor said @Kikichugirl: , It reads like an ad and needs more sources. Please fix these problems raised by Kikichugirl and resubmit. Thanks, TheMesquitobuzz 20:46, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the feedback TheMesquito. I'm on it, fixing the writing style and looking for more sources. Cheers! Bites85 (talk) 20:50, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

I want to know more about notability conditions. I am very much looking forward to make my article accepted and visible. I am writing about technology, and in that context, describing about such a provider in Washington state.

Please point out specific obstacles and respective measures to sort those out.

Evelyn Lori (talk) 09:27, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

@Evelyn Lori: There are the core content policies and the policy on notability, which explains which topics can "have a WIkipedia aricle" and which can not and why. Please have a read through those links. (tJosve05a (c) 21:13, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Draft: Care Transitions Intervention

Hello,

I sent you an email, but I have since found the comment on my draft page which states what website my article is being associated with. I have looked at the website: http://www.rosalynncarter.org/care_transitions/. This website is giving an overview of some of the research and the program that my article is about, it is using some of the same sources but does not directly site what content comes from those sources. The sources are just listed at the bottom of the website, but there is no in text citations. I believe the reason my page has been associated with this website is because we have used some of the same sources and we are discussing the same topic, however I have never seen this site before, nor have I taken any content from it. Can you help me remedy this issue.

Thank you! HPM200B (talk) 00:42, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi Josve05a,

I would really appreciate your help with this matter. Did you get the chance to review my above comments. The website you referenced is a secondary source, we cited the primary sources, so I don't think this should be an issue. Thank you for your time!!

HPM200B (talk) 20:36, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Hello! I have reviewed the article and aggree with what this user denied it for, large chunks of the article are taken directly from here and here and violate our copyright policy and one entire section is a violation (Draft:Care Transitions Intervention#Four Pillars). Thus we can not accept your article untill you do a complete rewrite without copy-pasting from the internet (Summarize what a source says, don't just copy it and change a few words). Thanks, TheMesquitobuzz 21:00, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi again! After reviewing your response and obtaining additional guidance through the chat page, I have edited my draft and removed the necessary content. Thanks! HPM200B (talk) 21:35, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

06:01:14, 27 February 2015 review of submission by RoseSong

Hi, I made my first Wikipedia page to submit but it didn't pass the copyright test. I made several edits but I don't see how to preview them before resubmitting the page. I hope it won't fail again! When I save changes and and/or try to preview, the page only shows the "you failed" blurb, not the page with new edits. Can you please tell me what I should do at this point? Thank you! John Kavanaugh entry

Hi - I'm new at this and I'm trying to get the "John Kavanaugh" page posted. It has been rejected twice, but I've already referenced the necessary information. The guy has been nominated 3 times for an Emmy and won 1. I don't know what else is needed. Please advice. Thanks. I've restored the draft as "bacwardscopyvio". The remote web page was complete with Wikipedia markup - there was an earlier version Call Center Pros deleted as A7, it's plain they got their data from that page back in January. I've added the {{backwardscopy}} template to the talk page. Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:08, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
