Christina Katrakis (December 16, 1980) is an International coordinator and curator, writer, artist, Ambassador for the Foundation for United Nations SDG,[5] in charge of the Humanitarian Aid Base FFUNSDG-HELP.UA in Vorokhta, Ukraine as an Ambassador for International Relations, Foundation for United Nations SDG. International Political Coordinator for The Delahunt Group & BGR, International Investment Coordinator for the Andesite Blue LLC British Investment Fund, an official international coordinator[1] of the United Nations Agenda 2030 SDG Global initiative[6] in partnership with the FFUN,[7] and official international coordinator of UNESCO for the UNESCO Center of Bologna,[8] producer in Hollywood MO’z art pictures[2] and Visionairemedia,[3] an American artist (sculptor, painter) and writer. She is a US citizen.
Early life and education
Katrakis was born in 1980, December 16, in a family of Anatoliy Kushch-Katrakis and Helen Pilkevich-Kushch. Her father is a well known sculptor, author of many historical monuments in the United States, Iran, Libya, Ukraine and Poland,[9] residing in Kyiv, Ukraine. Her mother is an ethnographer and an art historian.[10] She officially took the double second name Kushch-Katrakis because of Greek legacy of her ancestors, who were Cretan and Pontic Greeks, migrated long ago to Ukraine, according to her father.[10]
Katrakis founded the International Academy of Arts in 2005[11] which is now based in Munich, Germany.
She comes from a family with a rich heritage and background: maternal grandfather – last king of Georgia and Armenia (Bagrationi and Dadiani royal lines) and royal prince of Lithuania ( Yagailo Gedimin royal line) – Simon Bagration Dadiani Gedimin Pilke, his grandmother on paternal line was Isabella de Savoy from royal family of Savoy kings of Piemonte and Sardinia. Maternal grandmother – the countess of Poland and Ukraine, granddaughter of countess Evelina Hanska the wife of Honore de Balzac. Paternal line: Father a sculptor Anatoliy Kushch (Katrakis), comes from a family of Cretan artists as well as his cousin Manos Katrakis, famous Greek actor.[12]
Christina became a model of the Berehynia statue on the Independence Monument in Kyiv, which was made by her father Anatoliy Kushch. The statue is made of cast bronze and weighs about 20 tons.[13]
At the age of ten, Katrakis moved to Chicago, the USA with her parents. Her father received an order to create a monument in Chicago.[14]
From 1992 to 1993, Katrakis studied at the English International Institute for Foreign Languages and Diplomacy in Washington.[15] From 1993 to 1994, she continued her studies at St. Nicholas Catholic School in Chicago. From 1993 to 1994, Katrakis also studied in parallel at the specialized school “Glen Eco” in Maryland.[16]
From 1994 to 1998, she studied in Kyiv at the Shevchenko State Art School.[17] From 1996 to 1998, she also studied arts, art history and anatomy in Italy and France (Lorenzo di Medici' Academy in Florence and Sorbonne University in Paris). From 1998 to 2000, Katrakis studied at the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture in Kyiv.[18]
In 2002, Christina received a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees from Arkansas State University. In 2003, she received a Master's degree from the same university. In 2005, Katrakis defended her thesis at the University of Memphis.[19] From 2004 to 2006, Katrakis taught drawing, structural drawing/anatomy, painting, and watercolor, defended her thesis, terminal degree in Arts and History (PHD equivalent) at the University of Memphis.[20]
Career
Coordinator
In different years, she acted as a coordinator of international projects.
She was the official international political coordinator of the Washington DC lobbying firm "The Delahunt Group"; coordinator of The Orion Project, “The country within the country – Lefkadia”; international projects’ curator of the Centro per I’UNESCO di Bologna; official UNESCO coordinator; official international coordinator[21] of the United Nations Agenda 2030 SDG Global initiative in partnership with the FFUN and official international coordinator of UNESCO for the UNESCO Center of Bologna, International Investment Coordinator Official International Investment Coordinator for the International Bond Fund located in London, UK with focus on Eastern European emerging markets.[22]
Producer
Katrakis made the film "UltraViolet Light".[23] She worked as a producer in Hollywood MO’z art pictures[24] and Visionairemedia.[25] She was the producer of the Visionairemedia documentary film "Believe".[26] She's a senior International Producer in Visionaire Media (Los Angeles/New York), Archer Films Corporation (Los Angeles/London/Sydney) and Mo'z Art Pictures (Los Angeles/Palm Springs).[27] Katrakis is a producer and project coordinator at Archer Films Corporation (Los Angeles, London, Sydney).[28]
Curator
Katrakis has curated numerous international events, exhibitions, fairs and presentations. She has worked with Christie’s Fine Arts Auction, MacDoughall's Art Auction, Art Huston, Moscow World Fine Art Fair, FIAC Paris, TEDx, Slik – Pale de Tokyo Paris, Berlin Fashion Week, Art Monaco and Art Miami.[29][30][31][32]
Charity
She is a “Freedom to Create” World Peace Prize Winner and an Official Ambassador for the Foundation for United Nations for International Relations SDG (Sustainable Development Global Project).[33] In 2020, Katrakis with American artist David Datuna founded the ‘Art4Changes’ awareness and aid campaign, raising funds to combat the Coronavirus.[34]
